Bacillus contam

Think I probably have a contam I'm new so I thought I'd check cause usually the liquid substance for bacillus is supposed to be grey or yellow from what I read, and despite this being unfortunately in a purple tinted jar when I shine a bright led flashlight on it it looks totally white which had me doubting what it is. I already threw away all the jars but that one and did a second in inoculation that looks to be growing a white liquid substance on the side of its jars as well, I only did that one a few days ago.

Yea i threw them all out save this one just so i could take a picture. thanks guys, i already bought all the materials for agar so just going to transition to that for now. Clearly straight to grain as a beginner is not my thing. Thanks for the help

IF you ever try spores to grains again, ONLY 1-2 drops of solution per jar. This is so less bacteria hitches a ride as all spore syringes carry some level of bacteria contamination.

Yea i put well over 2 cc's per jar, and i actually did more than that on the second batch. Time to transition to agar :P
Then just do agar to grain with already healthy mycelium (you can be sure ill be posting here to make sure that it is)

In the beginning it will take you a lot of transfers to get a clean culture. As you get experience, you will start getting clean cultures faster. Your goal will be to clean up a spore plate good enough to do a grow. In that grow you will look for nice fruits to clone, and continue using the clone.

thats the plan, to just work with agar for long enough to get comfortable with it and go from there. I already got all the materials for pasty's tek so its just about getting started. I bought quite a few spore syringes cause i knew i would fuck up, ive used 2 and a half and still have 10 and a half spore syringes left. Ill go through them a lot slower with agar as well compared to what i was doing with grain.
If i were to ever go back to noccing grain does 1 to 2 drops effect colonization time? is that why i see so many people suggesting several cc's?

More spores COULD mean faster colonization's, but it also means faster bacterial growths so it is hit or miss. It would be better to loose 1-2 jars that failed because they didn't get any spores, as opposed to loosing like 10 because they all went bacterial. Less is more here. It may colonize a bit slower at first, but 10 days in it wont be fighting WW3 against bacteria.

yea good call, may post back here to make sure the other 6 i did a few days ago are growing the same thing, could excess moisture cause a higher chance of contams, i do feel like i probably had too much moisture on probably both batches of my rye as i kept worrying i had too little after boiling them and put a small amount of water at the bottom of each of the jars before pcing them.
I think i read it wrong that it was supposed to leave a little moisture spot on a paper towel if you put it on there but then i read somewhere else that it wasnt supposed to leave any marks on a paper towel. I just boiled them until some of them started bursting (40 mins or so)
I did all these in a sab following bod's sab tek and felt like my sterile procedure was pretty good especially for the second batch, so just seeing if their might be something else im doing wrong beyond contam in syringe or improper sterile technique.

To much moisture allows the bacteria to thrive and spread faster/easier.
