That marijuana highs are influenced by your greatest inner desires.
I have been wondering for a long time now why the effects of weed are so incredibly varied. There is no drug on this planet that is more unpredictable, and has more radically different experiences associated with it than marijuana. I've heard of people getting kaleidoscope vision, seeing the world in slow motion, feeling almost orgasmic on it and other people who are barely affected by it. Some people have their energy sapped from it while others are stimulated by it. Some people have their anxiety removed by it, others find it causes terrible paranoia and even panic attacks. All drugs have variations in experiences, but they still do have general affects that are felt by almost everyone. Almost everyone hallucinates on acid, almost everyone is stimulated by cocaine, alcohol pretty much always decreases inhibitions and affects your motor skills. Marijuana, however, can literally act as a completely different drug depending on who is taking it. This isn't about strains either, I've tried many different strains and while I of course prefer some over others, and of course there is variation, but ultimately they generally affect me the same.
Now one thing I've definitely noticed, is that people who do not accept the drug do not experience nearly as many positive effects from it. This isn't people who just don't like it either. I'm talking about people I know who are opposed to people using marijuana and have hypocritically tried it or even use it occasionally, but still harshly judge people who use it and insist that because its illegal, using it is to some degree immoral. I have noticed without exception that these kind of people always report barely feeling affected by it or having nothing but negative effects.
Going back to what I originally said, marijuana gives you, in some form, what you desire most. And people who don't want to like it much, aren't going to like it. That's because their greatest desire for using it, is to prove people wrong. They want to prove that marijuana is not that big a deal and that it doesn't make sense to use it very often anyways. Saying that it isn't even that good gives them ammunition to use against stoners who love it, not to mention allowing them to close their mind off to the idea of understanding people who do love it.
Now, a lot of people have been confused or even shocked when I tell them how I react to weed. One joint of high quality weed is about enough to make me feel almost orgasmic for 30 minutes to an hour. It comes in waves, or even is just a continuous feeling. I'm not the only person that I've heard of experiencing this, but it at least appears to be uncommon. Weed actually makes me feel so good that I no longer get high in-front of other people unless its a mild high because the experience feels too intimate. Being high in-front of other people feels similar to masturbating or having sex in-front of them. The only people I'm willing to be truly high around now, are sexual partners.
Now currently, not long term, but currently; one of my greatest desires is just pleasure. I'm very motivated to be a good person as well, but I would say that those are my two greatest desires. That's why weed feels so ridiculously pleasurable to me, because it knows that its currently my greatest desire. Most people, even if that is the case would be afraid to admit that. I'm not though, I masturbate four times a day and very proactively pursue sex, even with prostitutes, for just that purpose. A lot of people might be considered hedonists by others, but coming from the perspective of someone who actually is shamelessly hedonistic. Most people really aren't that motivated by pleasure for its own sake. Not even young people.
A lot of people might have a lot of casual sex, but the main reason they're doing it is actually to boost their ego. They like the validation of someone thinking they're attractive enough to sleep with them. They like showing off to other people that they're attractive enough for other people to sleep with them. Or they might be doing it because other people in their social group are and they want to fit in. They might be doing it to show off a kind of prowess or skills. They might just be doing it because they're bored and can't think of anything better to do. A surprisingly large number of people who have a lot of sex, even casual sex, are not as into the pleasurable part of it as you'd think. If you really enjoy sex just for pleasure, simply for the sensation of having sex with a pretty girl, then hiring an escort makes perfect sense to you. To anyone having sex for other reasons, it seems ludicrous. It seems ludicrous to you because the pleasure of sex is actually more like a bonus to you than the most important part.
So think about your weed highs, how does it correlate with a powerful desire of yours?
