mushroom life or death question
    #24933292 - 01/22/18 11:13 AM (3 years, 3 months ago)

Hello, everyone!
So...yesterday went to a shroom odissey and found these 2 from the pic. The thing is, one of them I'm sure its a hallucinogic, BUT, the other one, the bigger one, might not be, and this might be a huge problem, because I've already took them... Any of you know what type it might be?
Tks in advance and hope to remain alive to read your comments!

It would help to state which country you're from and what species of mushroom you thought you had found/were looking for.

That big one is definitely not a good one. In general you want to stay away from mushrooms with that orange/ rust color that other wise look like psilocybes. Galerinas fall in this group and are poisonous. Eating one isn’t going to kill you, but eating unidentified mushrooms is fucking stupid, so be more careful. Others can chime in with actual ID, cuz I’m no expert on non-psilocybes, but I know to stay away from mushrooms that color.

I'm sure it was 1000% a stupid move and I'm truly sorry for myself. Huge mistake.
Just wanted to know if I will survive this one hahaha. About 18 hours now and no symptoms so far

I'm from Araraquara, Sao Paulo, Brazil. I was searching for Panaeolus. I've already found them in this exactly same place near my home. It was in cow shit and I supposed it was slightly burned by the sun in that moment

Looks like a Conocybe sp. (largest one) and maybe a Psathyrella sp.

The former might contain phallotoxins but probably not very much. Still not a good idea to eat them.

I see... It makes any difference saying that it was by itself? Not a bunch of shrooms...only one in the spot I took

Extra question: Am I going to die with one of these? HAHA I mean, I'm really freaking out with this bad call.

No. As said, the concentration of toxins is, if present at all, low.

I think it is important to note that since you were/are certain in your ID a mushroom that was incorrect, and not even in the the same genus, you should make sure confirm your identification here (or another reliable source) before eating any of your finds, even if you are sure it is a mushroom you have previously harvested.
I am not saying this to be a jerk, just to try to make sure you are safe!

I agree with conocybe - perhaps C. tenera

Or maybe possibly but unlikely some random pholiotina sp.
Either way not something that should be eaten.

There were hundreds of mushrooms very similar to this one on a farm I used to work at and one day someone I knew ate one. I told him to never do that again, but he ended up completely fine...
