G2g to oven bags?

I have 2 really solid clean master jars, trying to transfer them to bulk. Would it be easier to transfer them to jars or bags? I was thinking of getting oven bags from the store but don't know if those will keep sterile any thoughts?

Oven bags won't hold up to being sterilized, so either g2g into more sterilzed grains in jars, or use "spawn bags" to sterilize receiving grains, then inoculate them with the masters.

I just did an oven bag G2G yesterday, just to try it out.
It held up fine in the PC, just needed to surround it in a towel, so it didn't touch the sides or top. Of course, you need to manipulate some way to have GE, or the bag will get damaged from the pressure. I just used some polyfill in the opening, and wrapped it three times with twist ties. Seems to be colonizing already after one day.
I would not call it easier than jars at all though! I've been using unmodified lids, so there's little work involved. Just crack the jar open and cover with foil for the PC cycle, then quickly open the lid and dump the grains, LI, LC, or agar in. Sure would be nice to easily G2G a gallon or more in one go with the bags. Tried it with less this time, like 2 quarts maybe, just in case it didn't last the PC cycle.
I only tried it since I'd been looking for them everywhere, and finally found them. My intent for having them was to oven pastuerize my compost from outside for potting soil, but it's a welcome tool for other things.

What brand oven bag are you using? What is it made out of? How long did you pc? How many bags? How much sub or grain was pced? How did you inoculate?

Reynolds.
I believe it said nylon.
90 minutes @ 15psi.
Just one bag this time, but I also did jars of grain and jars of water.
I think the bag got nearly 2 quarts, but I was doing around 2 quarts in jars plus 2 pints of water.
To inoculate, I brought the bag and grain jar into the SAB, loosened the twist ties, pulled a section of the opening away from the polyfill, then opened the grain jar lid and poured them in, then twisted the bag back shut around the polyfill. The grains were already loosened a bit from a G2G to a jar, so I could just mostly pour some in.
Oh, yes, and I put a little cap of foil over the polyfill opening, just hoping it would not be soaked through. It didn't seem to be. I used a filter section that filled about 3-4 inches of the bag opening.
Now, we'll see how it turns out in the next week or so. No guarantees, and I haven't gone off jars that's for sure. The opening of the bag to transfer is a big fiddly... I'm just glad I set up a bigger SAB first!

Nice work, brother. Wasn't ever able to pull of grain sterlization with oven bags. However with bags of grain they be would stuffed with 4-5 quarts at a time, thus required twice the time in the sterilizer at about 18-20 psi. Had to use spawn bags in order to make that work. Was only able to accomplish pasteurization in them and even then, if the oven bags that were pasteurized were so much as looked at wrong they would break.
Furthermore, 90 minutes at 15 psi is cause for concern. With bags they need to be sterilzed for longer due to density of substrate. Also, Thanks to J for sparking the conversation by asking all the hard questions.

We will see how it turns out.
The polyfill is the filter. That is what it is for. 3-4 inches of filter seems to give some resistance to moisture at least.
It was simply an experiment, and the grain cost me very little. Maybe it will be great, maybe I won't do it ever again. Seems to be colonizing similarly to the jar done right before it.

Im a visual guy and an imagination retard unfortunately. Can i please see some pics of your setup? Im interested in this very much actuall not trolling or anything.
Im fruiting outta ziploc/freezer bags right now to get a feel for a more vertical grow than horizontal before dropping some dinero on “real bags” and pcing them.
Did you secure the polyfil to the top of the bag with a zip tie or wire? Did you use a trivet plus jar lids? Sorry i have so many god damn questions...

I always use a trivet, but generally lifted in the PC with repurposed foil balls.
I will probably take a picture to compare the jar and bag from this run before they get a shake, just for kicks. I'll try to post it here.
I'm just hoping for the best!
