Golden Teacher Fruiting Problems

Hey guys you helped me a lot already but this is my first Post I was curious about sawdust and coffee ground as substrate and took Mycelium from my Golden Teacher Grow box to test it. I cooked the Mix (SD 90/10 CG) for an Hour. After cooling down I filled it in Jars and put some Mycelium inside. It colonized very fast. I have tried do Case one of the cakes now. I put wet vermiculite on the bottom of the casing, then the crushed 300ml cake on top of it. To cover it, I used a mix ( 50/50) of potting soil and vermiculite. I was colonized after some days and I put it into the fruiting chamber. The Mycelium grew a bit stronger but after ten Days I can still not see any pins at all. What could have gone wrong? What do you guys think about growing on sawdust and coffee ground? Sincerely Cartman

Heh oddly enough I was thinking of adding used coffee grounds and sawdust when I make my own jars sooner or later. Definitely interested to see what happens. BRF is so ... "thats it?" Fungus loooves coffee grounds... specially nice wet used coffee grounds left in a dark coffee chamber by a negligent barista!
Anyway my only thoughts for no pinning would be not enough light, temp, and/or needs a little more dryness on top layer but ive barely begun my first grow/setup so...

So does mold.

Is it getting enough FAE?

What does FAE stand for? If it has to do mit Fresh Air: ( ) I am opening the Box once a Day to fan fresh air inside.

FAE = Fresh Air Exchange
Once a day is not nearly enough. FAE and full colonization are your main pinning triggers. I would suggest leaving an opening in the box all the time so it has continuous FAE

No.
Cubensis is not a wood loving mushroom, sawdust is not appropriate for this species.
Sterilizing coffee grounds will lead to mold. Any substrate containing coffee needs to be pastsurized between 140 + 160 for 1 hour.
Sloooooow down. Maybe try to follow directions and try a PF Tek grow.
If you don't have any experience growing "experimenting" is the last thing you should be doing.
Post some photos of what you have going so we can see what you're doing

Not exactly. Sterilzed substrates containing spent coffee grounds will work fine when you inoculate in sterile conditions. However, when it comes to open air spawning, then the grounds will need to be pasteurized.

Using a grow box im going to go out on a limb and say that OP doesn't need to worry about that little factoid. Because he isn't spawning sterile into sterile substrate

Honestly im not quite comfy giving out advice just yet so im not sure about that but I do remember reading pinning (in the field) gets triggered when the mycelium "knows" its above or just below ground. Meaning light and a more open fresh air environment.
Honestly though I think youre better off checking the light levels/time and/or FAE like Tormato said.
(Guess I wont be using coffee then )

I use coffee straight outta my coffee pot after it cools and ive never had mold on it. I have jars i continuously add coffee to thatre already colonized coffee, it colonizes the new coffee within 2 days and hasnt contamed yet. When i have a qt jar full of colonized coffee i add it in with my bulk as spawn.
