Quick cake check....just birthed some new ones!

Hey guys. Quick post here. I just birthed another 10 cakes today and noticed some discoloration on the cakes that have been in there for a week already. I think they are just bruised, but can someone verify these blue looking patches? They seem to be on all the cakes and it doesn't rub off. From what I can tell, it's underneath the mycelium so I'm almost positive it's bruising but getting a few heads together never hurts. Thoughts?

Look fine to me. Quit lookin at them so much, if you stare long enough you'll start to see problems that don't exist.

Bruising. They were probably bruised in the birthing process. Rubbing them/handling them encourages bruising, as well. Consider trimming the foil down to the circumference of the cakes.

Right. I try to keep the terrarium closed as much as possible but I had it open for a minute today putting the new cakes in. Figured it was a good time for a cake check.

You can have it open as much as you like man, it has holes in it! Just mist a few times a day, when the droplets on the surface of the cakes dry up

I just re-read the comment about trimming the foil. What advantage does this have? Maybe I'm guessing higher humidity with not so much foil on top of the perlite?

Correct. Moisture evaporation from the perlite will be allowed to be delivered to the cakes surfaces.
