I'm guessing you're using potato flakes in your agar recipe? Should be ok to use though

Too much malt. The malt and agar should be equal per X amount of water.
For example: 10 grams agar. 10 grams malt. 500ml water.

Did you mix and dissolve prior to putting in jars to pc? I’d imagine you’ll get very slow spreading myc on those as to nutritious. When I’ve done jars I just bang a few holes in the lid and cover with tape and had no condensation

Yes,I mixed the dry ingedients together and threw them in a slighty hot pot with 500ml water while stirring for approx. 10 minutes. Would it be a better solution to use polyfill lids instead of undrilled ones? I looked up DocT's agar TEK and it seemed so simple so I used that way of doing Agar.

I mix from cold then simmer until it’s all melted away I’ve not seen his tek mate but was just my logic to try vent it. I don’t store it for ages so have no worry of it drying out but easily keep for a month at room temp.

What agar recipe are you using? This is pre pour yes?
I like to PC or microwave my agar until its mixed nice and thoro.
If using jars, maybe try setting them up like Pastyplates and drill a 1/4" hole and cover with a strip of micropore tape. With pasty plates you fold a paper towel into a square, place it over the jar lids and wrap the jars in foil before PC. Might be worth a shot

You really shouldn't even need a hole in the lid at all with jars actually
Its been a long time since I used jars for agar. I prefer the Glad Mini Rounds or something similar since they're so cheap

Hmm,I will wait and see how these jars turn out and update this thread as soon as I have found the solution.
Where I'm located it's hard to get your hands on these mini rounds (except you're willing to pay a pretty high price on eBay).
I got some similar plastic containers that hopefully change up the situation and make it a little easier to work with agar,so stay tuned,I'll be back

Make sure they are PP5 plastic or they will melt.
Nothing wrong with jars, but they can be a bit unwieldily
