Antique PC has nick in metal to metal seal, looking for advice on repairing it

The damage is so minor I'm thinking it can be touched up. I was thinking maybe melt some aluminum and patch the nick with it, then file away the excess.
I haven't done any metalworking before so looking for advice before I go melting aluminum onto it. My main concern is that the new melted material wouldn't fuse properly to the existing metal, and the pressure may dislodge it. I do know a welder I could probably get the assistance of
I also wonder if I could just make a makeshift gasket with some rtv silicone in the spot where it can't seal and call it good

There's a member here that does metal work for a living... If I could remember his name I'd suggest you PM him....

That would be the way to go I think; if it's a small nick, you might get away with building a little material on it and then sanding it down to the right shape.

You know how to use some sand paper? You can even use a sharp knife first to take it down if it seems there is a lump or raised bit of metal . Metal working has been going on forever so you are alright. Most likely it is a soft metal so you will be a metal worker soon.

Haha, yeah I'm proficient at both sand paper and metal files
This project went on the back burner until an easy way to melt some extra aluminum on there presents itself. I've already got a modded AA, don't need a new pc all that bad
thanks for reminding me though.

tig weld it (butter it up) and sand it down with a "tiger paw" on a 4 1/2" grinder. as long as your welder doesn't under cut the weld it should work out great. aluminum can also be mig welded.

yes. 4xxx is horrble with heat and doesnt heat treat well so it stays soft. just garden dude. wire brush affected area wipe with acetone and use a braze rod no big deal no need heat pot up to 750 degrees and meld with molten aluminum.

you can also have 1100 which i doubt it is very weak and has traces of lead 3003 or 3004 either way its ust leadless aluminum and read side of braze rod is will say with or without general without though. epoxy has no lead correct?also if nick is so small then lead is no issue being at a seal point.
