Second post from a long time lurker - lots of pics
    #24920708 - 01/17/18 01:02 PM (7 years, 14 hours ago)

I've never tried shrooms before. Well maybe once in college but I was too drunk and took too small an amount to feel anything. 30 years later I randomly clicked on a Youtube link for Terence Mckenna. It was pretty interesting so I decided I'd like to grow some shrooms. A quick web search led me here. I'm a privacy nut so I only view the site using the tails operating system and Tor browser. Shroomery.org will not allow you to register using TOR, so I never registered until just a week ago with a new email address from a restaurant with free wifi. My real name is not M.Smith.

After three months on the site I decided Bod's SAF seemed pretty fool proof.

Here's some pics from the last two and a half months.

I have my first pins ever, this week as you can see below. Too moist? Not enough FAE? Any suggestions recommendations would be welcome.

I've got about 40 pitri dishes of Golden Teacher and another 40 of B+ stored in the fridge, 4 dozen quart jars ranging from 20% to 90% complete sitting on shelving and 8 shoe-boxes that are just beginning to pin.

I'll need to buy a dehydrator in another week.

All this and I'm not sure I'll even like the shroom experience. I'll certainly have more than I need.

Anyways, I'd like to thank all of you for getting me this far. It's been a very rewarding hobby. I've had my share of success and failures. 1 in every 12 oat jars has been contaminated and one of the three batches of agar plates I made was 80% contaminated but each try I learn something and make fewer mistakes.

Thanks especially to Bod, his system really has been SAF.

Very nice photos :eatingout:

Imo there is no such thing as "the shroom experience" 1g dry cubes is one type of experience, 5g dry cubes is totally another substance than 1g. And 15g can change your path in life completely. It is what you make of it. It is the mercy of mother nature, she that can heal all wounds. It is a powerful medicine that demands respect and yet is merciful and forgiving. All my best trips started as my worst trips ALWAYS. GL in the future

I went with Bod's recommendation and went straight to Agar before trying anything else.

Spore Syringes from one of the site sponsors to Agar.

From Agar I inoculated Oats with Agar wedges.

Then I went from Agar to Agar to keep a large supply of mycillium so I did not have to order any more syringes.

Once my Oats were at 98% I mixed them 50/50 with Choir and they went straight to shoeboxes. The shoeboxes sat for about two weeks before they pinned (last night). I've checked throughout the day and I swear they get a little larger every hour.

I took some of the spawn oats and did grain to grain transfers.

All in all I've made Agar three times. The last time I strained the Agar through cheesecloth and added food coloring. It was my best batch yet and no contaminates at all with my most recent Agar to Agar transfer in my SAB.

In a few days I'll have to re-watch Bod's system for harvesting the first flush and what to do to get the second and third.

Any suggestions for a good dehydrator?

After that I guess you toss the remaining mixture in the trash, the garden or down the disposal? Can it be PC'ed and used again?

Do you mean if you can reuse the substrate after it´s spent? No.

"I can see coir in those bottles brother"

Actually, that's some evil contaminant. I'm not sure what it is, but it went down the toilet. I had the same stuff grow in my second batch of Agar, it destroyed 80% of that batch. My first and third try at agar were nearly perfect. My first batch had a lot of moisture, my third was nearly all crystal clear in the moisture department and green and red from the food coloring. The food coloring really makes the mycilium stand out.

Yah, the used substrate.

Just throw it in the trash or toss it in the woods?

I just throw it in the compost trash and throw it out of the house the same day.

Is that a monotub or did you use Bod's unmodified tub tek?

The beads of moisture look great. If it starts to lose this and get dry, just give it a nice mist. And awesome for you going from agar to bulk substrate for your first grow!

Not a lot of people could do that. It took me a try with BRF cakes before I felt confident to move on to AND understand how bulk subs work. Just could not wrap my head around it for some reason. lol.

And btw... I KNOW you will enjoy the shroom experience. There's so much to learn and grow from and I have a feeling you will want to explore and utilize it to it's full potential. :tripping:

TOR will not help you, the government knows when you download it plus a creator of TOR works for the government now. If you want to leave little to no trace invest in a vpn service. On you project good luck with it and welcome back.

Damn. Very nicely done. 100% right out of the gate.
Now, even if you don't like shrooms, this hobby is fun AF.
There are plenty of people growing here that don't do 'em.
