Fruiting Mini Mono
    #24920056 - 01/17/18 07:30 AM (7 years, 15 hours ago)

Hi all. I put together a mini mono on 1/6/18. It’s now 1/17/18.
It looked completely colonized except for the very top layer which I put an extra half inch of verm on top. The holes have been sealed with tape until today when I put it into fruiting.
I was gonna wait a bit longer until I read how many people fruit before full colonization.
Just hoping I did the right thing. The sub had just barely started to pull away from the tub.
What do you guys think. Still unsure what knotting really looks like but I from what I see I believe them to be knots. The little white balls of mycelium. Right?
I obviously opened it (for the first time since spawning)
Fanned and misted and fanned again

Maybe it's just the pics but it looks soaked in there!! If you made your sub the right way you shouldn't really need to mist and you definately shouldn't be fanning lol that's what the holes stuffed with Polly are supposed to do for you.

Looks fine...loosen up those top holes...evaporation of water on sub is a pinning trigger.

Surface looks real good I think...... Those beads of water are what you want, but no more moisture than that.  Looks pretty damn well ideal to me!!

I think I can see knots starting to want to form as well... I usually fruit my monos on day 10-12, so you should be in good shape.  Make sure you are providing enough FAE; observe your fae holes, make sure they are dry around them (indicating good passive airflow).... I bet ya 7 or 8 days from now you will see pins, maybe a day or two sooner!!!

Don't mist it anymore if you have been unless the surface gets to looking dry, those water beads are a sign it is almost perfect!!!  Any more water on the surface and it would be pooling.... Which is not a good thing

Just make sure it can breathe well and let it do it's thing!!!  Of course lots of light too!!!

Alright. I’ll be leaving the lid partially open for a few hours to see if I can evaporate some excess moisture. There is no air circulating in the room that it’s in. And it’s just sitting on top of a table in front front of a window with the curtains partially drawn so it gets a little indirect light.
I could crack the window open as well but worried about inviting contams but at this point I guess it shouldn’t be be a problem yeah? I’ll report back.

Nah man, contams are a non issue at this point... Within reason of course! Lol.  Yeah get some more airflow in there, and make sure your surface has some water drops on top, don't let it get too dry.

Thanks Mushboy. I get some more air and dry it up. Suppose I’ll have to get a little fan. Cycle it with a timer?

I left the lid off for like 10 hours and the droplets still wouldn’t evaporate.
Bought a fan and still no luck. I had to loosen all polyfill and point the fan directly at the tub on medium speed before the sub would evaporate those droplets. I suppose it cause the RH here is so high. Usually between 80-90% most days. Which you would think would be good for cultivation.
Actually where is live has the most stable climate of anywhere in the world.
The temperature fluctuation from day to night is greater than from summer to winter.
It’s always between 82 to 86
Inside my house stays a bit cooler. But no ac in my grow room. So depends on how much sun hits the house.  All my jars colonize just fine tho
Still no pins yet tho

Are u in hawaii? Lol and it takes awhile to evap. if its overly wet. If its humid in ur area itll take even longer. U have to adjust misting and fae to ur particular climate. "Teks" only work if all things are exactly the same. So sometimes small tweaks to a tek will give u better results. U just gotta train ur eye to see small detail that affects the grow.

Yeah one of those Pacific Islands Lol
I know I shouldn’t have to mist or fan a mono tub but I guess I needed to in this case
I don’t think my prep is to blame ever. It just got that wet during colonization. Next time I will put straight to fruiting conditions tho and not tape it like I did this time.
How does the sub look now tho. Pointed the fan away from tub now but leaving it on
