2nd Attempt. Mycelium grows outside the cake?

This is my second attempt. I think it's going very well. Do these look good? They're golden teacher. In my first attempt, I only got 2 and I dried them in a dehydrator and boiled them before eating. Nothing happened. This time, I'm just going to pick and eat fresh. Does anyone think that's a bad idea going by the pictures? Also, is that mycelium growing at the base of the shrooms outside of the cake?

The shrooms looks good, the fuzzy feet are nothing to be worried about, but what do you have the cakes sitting on?
Also that little dot on the top of the solo shroom cake is questionable, or maybe its the color of the photo?
Otherwise good attempt, you got some fruits. Take a print when they open up

They're sitting on perlite. The dot is actually the top of a shroom. Can be seen better in the angled view. Thanks for the vote of confidence. I'll post pictures when they open. Do you think it's ok to just grab and eat when they open?

looks pretty solid! you will be fine to eat fresh shroom by the way but i cant promise you will like the taste lol.
It looks like you didnt coat the cakes in verm after your dunk. Might want to do that next time. Im not sure what kind methods you like so just food for thought.
The cake on the left isn't looking too great. can you give some info on your misting methods? And last but not least i would place your cakes on a small piece of tinfoil. it looks to me like you have them on a bed of verm but from my experience tin foil works better.

Yeah, the bottom of the cakes is verm from the top of the jars. I'm not misting at all. I just added some water to perlite and plopped the cakes on top. Drilled holes and sealed it up. Fan it out once a day

Usually you want a piece of foil or jar lid between your cakes and perlite. I think its to stop moisture wicking from the cake into the perlite, but unsure.
Fanning isnt needed.
Nice lookin fruits.

you should definitely be misting. i would mist cakes directly twice a day until they are glistening but dont have standing water on them. water evaporating off the cakes is what triggers pinning. Mist the sides of your fruiting chamber as well. most the time fanning is not necessary. i only fan after i mist if at all. I can post pics if you want to see what "glistening" cakes look like.
your fruits on the cake on the right look pretty damn good for not even misting by the way. They could probably be covered in pins if you start misting.

they all look fine for consumption just clean the perlite off the one in the middle lol. the reason the caps are black is because they have spores on them from the shrooms that were above dropping them.
Nice work and keep us posted!
