I’ve got four half pint jars I want to crumble and put them in coir. How much coir should I use? Half a brick?

Depend what ratio you want if 1:4 I would say use about 325 grams of coir which is what I usually do. Some is left over but nothing more then a few hand fulls so not much lost plus I always like extra. 4 standard 1/2 pint cakes will make about 2 quarts so you would need 2 quarts of coir for a 1:1 ratio so I would say use 162.5 grams if your going 1:1.

How are you planning on crumbling them? Cheese grater is the way to go imo.

Isn't 4 half pints equal to one quart, and not two?

If you break them up with a cheese grater it´s closer to a qt from two 1/2 pint cakes

Funny you said that Ham, I´ve spawned around 40 BRF tubs and the only time that I dunked the cakes before spawning was a week ago and those two tubs didn´t even colonize the bulk substrate. This is the first time spawning BRF didn´t work out for me..

I see what you mean. I guess I was just thinking face value. Thank you for clearing it up.
