that's what I'm going to do with some of the one piece metal lids I just got and see how well they hold up..
I really really like one piece lids and if I could make my blender attachments one piece as well I'd be very happy.
Everything else including my lcs are now 1 piece either metal or plastic and lovin it.
also to note and get others opinions, I've been trying the unmodded plastic lids without unscrewing (no ge) during colonization and think i'm seeing the effects of slowed growth due to lack of ge.
I'm doing this with 800ml or so in a 1/2 gallon jar using the biopsy inoculation and Thinking the two lc that have no ge are half as colonized and seem to have stalled compared to the two lcs with proper standard grain jar filtered ge lids. also tried with some cakes and also am seeing half the growth speed as normal.
I'm not going to say the problem is 100% lack of ge as it may be a bad coincidence with unreliable culture skillz. but the fact it's happening pretty consistently so far has me weary. The qt jars with 500ml lc seem to be doing just fine with no he so far
back to the possible blender attachment lids here is what I have :

Talking about jars, there's another option to consider if you can get your hands on them in your area.

These 1L jars cost 0,80€ each and I couldn't be happier. I get them from a chinese mall in my area.

Back in the day I made the huge mistake of importing a lot of mason jars (ball brand) from America (super expensive) and I can tell you the one in the pic runs circles around any mason jar. They're perfectly round, have a smooth surface, better visibility, you can fit more in the pc and the lid is just perfect and won't rust.
Fuck 2 pieces lids. These lids are one piece, they're very light, easy to open/close and will never get stuck. No more dicking with the seal the metal lids of mason jars create when you pc the lids with the rubber side down. The lid is the same kind of lid you can find in glass pickle jars, jam jars and a plethora of other preserved food products. And there's a good reason the food industry uses them; they make a perfect seal.

Yup.
If I'm not mistaken, Enlightenment also uses these type of jars. That's what made me buy a shit ton in one go without even testing them first.
Also, been using those kinda lids for a long time for smaller glass containers.

Do you work looking in front of your sab or over top of it?

sometimes I'll look through it, but only if I'm wearing a mask and even then I still hold my breath. Usually that only happens when taking itty bitty transfers, honestly I need to retire this sab and build a new one

I haven't had many contams regardless of how I look into my sab, and when I do I know exactly how I fucked up. Usually it's from bumping the sides of the arm holes.
I sneezed once while doing some agar work looking straight on, the look of horror on my face had to be priceless, I've worn masks ever since lol. Surprisingly that plate didn't contam.

I enjoy the way looking down feels, but I normally look straight into mine.

The table I set my sab on now doesn't allow me to look down. I can't even sit and do my work, kinda makes a drunk sab sess difficult lol

That gives me a piece of mind. I think either ways works. I notice my contam rate rises to the 2nd set whenever i take a break-standup and stir the air outside the sab. I guess sitting still and working gracefully and applying sab move even to the outside air are one of the keys.
