Tyvek sleeve bags OK left in open air?
    #24913826 - 01/14/18 03:19 PM (7 years, 3 days ago)

If you wanted to G2G to more bags than the PC can handle but wanted to do all them at once instead of in batches, essentially to avoid prepping the clean room more than once, could you take the Tyvek sleeve sealed bags from the PC into a sanitized plastic bin for a day or two while the others cooked? Or should the PC seal really be broken in front of FH at all times? This is assuming the PC was allowed to depressurize naturally and cool for at least 8 hours before opening each time.

Correct.  The seal should be broken of front of the hood at all time.  If prepared and sterilized correctly there should be an air tight seal between the gussets and the wrist sleeves.  Storing them in a snatized room until inoculation would be sufficient if the seal between the gussets and sleeves is created.  No need for bins.

Just to clarify because this seems a little contradictory, you're saying the PC would still have to be opened in front of the FH and bags would have to be left in the clean room while they cooled? The PC can't be opened in open air and the bags moved to a clean container before another move through open air to the clean room later?

No no.  Don't open the PC until at least the bags have returned to atmospheric pressure so that the seal has a chance to form.  Once the seal between the gussets and sleeves are formed it's safe to open the PC and transfer the product into a sanitized room and store them there until all the bags needed to be inoculated are finished being sterilzed.  Consider letting not retrieving the bags from the sterilizer after they have been sterilzed until the PC is cooled to the touch.  Otherwise the contents will be very very hot.

Oh ok I think this is where we had the confusion, this is what I meant by allowing "8 hours before opening each time" on my first post, so that the seal around the Tyvek could form well.

Thank you for the feedback and clearing things up
