Problems with cultivation process
    #24913761 - 01/14/18 02:52 PM (7 years, 3 days ago)

So SWIM has recently just bought an ultimate growing kit and has started their very first growing experience. SWIM has ran into a potential problem and is concerned about some substrate jars. 3/12 jars are Ecuadorian, and 9/12 are B+. it's been 12 days since inoculation and all of the Ecuadorian are about 40-50% colonized, while none of the B+ show any signs of growth or contamination. SWIM shook the syringes and sterilized to the best of their ability and kept the growing conditions at 79-81 degrees with RH at 50-60%. SWIM is concerned that the B+ jars will need to be left behind for they will not be ready to fruit at the same time. SWIM has tried to look up what can or should be done but wanted some direct feedback/advice. Is SWIM missing something?

Thanks in advance.

The B+ may be unviable due to old age.  Expand on the culture that's running through a process called grain to grain transfer.

If it's a grow kit is it brf jars or grain jars? Brf jars can take up to a few weeks to show visible growth, so I wouldn't give up hope just yet.  What all else does the grow kit entail? Have any pics of the jars?

Thank you for the responses. The jars are brf. The grow kit came with 12 half pint substrate jars, two big plastic tubs, Rh/Temp thermometer, 100W water heater, air pump and air filter, timer, grow light, perlite, and cleanliness supplies.

If I remember correct, I think the ultimate grow kit is a Midwest product.  Pre serialized brf jars, and a lot of unnecessary extras.  If that's the case op, I'd look into ditching all the extra bs and converting the tub they sent out into a sgfc. If you decide to keep up with the hobby, defiantly look into making your own brf jars.  The cost is next to nothing, you'll already have the jars, and you can prep them without a pc
Sorry must have posted at the same time.  Regardless look into my suggestions.  I started the exact same way with that kit, and was able to salvage it making the modifications

And keep those b+ jars around a couple more weeks as long as they don't show any contamination.  Regular room temperature is fine, so if your using the heating pad ditch it. Also if your jars are still covered in foil, ditch that too. Your jars need ge, and that may be hindering them if the foil is still on.  Hang in there op, all is not lost yet.
