What does any of it matter?

Hi, Coir, gypsum, manure, peat moss, three types of manure, pf cakes, rye jars, SGFC, minitubs, everything....and yet every time a topic is searched respectable folks from multiple aspects have valuable knowledge and info, yet....its a mindfuck... Theyll grow fine in the dark; or light. Temps range from 65-78. 50:50 or 50/50. Maybe 35%,30%,30%,2.5%,2.5% or (5%). Anything one researches will lead them in a circle. Yet a thought out plan can seem willy-nilly once the process begins. Asking questions can only get one so far. Gotta mess some stuff up. "A smooth seas do not make a skillful sailor".

Haha, Just work with what you have available in your area for a decent price. Keep it simple (as simple as possible at least). Start small and you'll add things over time naturally, or maybe not at all. I run basically the same setup I started with.

That's sorta the joke. I have all of the things mentioned. lol. Plus three books. Yet, it just seems to end up a trial and error. To baby it from inoculation to spawn take a lot of time. To prepare so much; maybe not so well and to fail. It hurts the Bill Cosby in me.

is this accurate>? "If the straw wasn't completely colonized, I don't recommend fanning. Straw will explode with Trich if it's uncolonized in a spot. I like to leave the straw covered for 2 weeks after spawning so it gets colonized well. Trich on straw is hard to see unless you're familiar with it. If you see white dots on a piece of straw, that's Trich in it's early stages usually. "

That is EXACTLY what I witnessed on my tub that I finished with a final chopped straw layer...... Was about two months ago..... Fucking thing looked so good, like a winter wonderland. There were a couple u colonized spots of straw poking up, but I didn't think much of them. Well a few days after fruiting the straw that wasn't colonized developed little white dots JUST like what your saying. Long story short I fought it.... And lost. Before it was over I thought I could remove the entire surface by slicing a whole 3/4 inch off the surface. (Where I saw the trich). Well the next day the whole thing was covered in some weird ass grey colored, hairy kinda mold!!!
But yeah, I saw those little white dot bastards!! So yes, I would say that's accurate on that aspect at least!

In "The bible" it says a clean spoon, some salt can fix this? ever heard of such thing? Its a resilient organism. Could the "okay" areas be cut out and replanted? Or is there a lesson the be learned about patience? Is Trich trying to teach patience?

Cutting trich out is pointless and will cause more harm then good.

Makes sense. So not being 100% certain its contaminated can i move it away from "others" and keep an eye on it? Seems like one should watch the progrtession of the Trich to be able to identify it later?

My success rate with cutting out trich is pretty low, but it's not impossible if you catch it early enough. If you can spot the difference between trich myc and cube myc, you can spoon it off the top of a casing layer. That's the best case scenario. Once it starts to produce it's green spores your chances of cutting it out completely are very low. I've had some luck with cutting out some mean green with a razor sterilized with a blow torch. I'd cut at least a full inch past the contamination in all directions. The overwhelming majority of the time you'll only delay a full blown trich infestation by cutting out sections. Usually you'll see it growing again in the hole or around it within 2 days. I've had no luck with peroxide, and I think the added fluid just spreads the trich spores to other areas. If trich is only spotted on the top, you can slow it's growth by covering it with salt. That's about it in my opinion. Doing any of the above (especially cutting and peroxide) seems to shock the myc and makes for a poor harvest if the tub isn't fruiting yet, in which I'd just trash the tub. If you spot trich mid flush, I'd do nothing for it, harvest within the next couple days, then trash the tub. The only reason I would try any of the above is if for some reason you have to try and salvage some fruits from that tub. Or just to try the methods yourself and see what happens. For SCIENCE!! And always separate contaminated tubs from the rest the moment you spot anything unsavory.

layered first two evenly, then mixed top two together gently. no casing layer. So sexy MYC is fluffy and airy but Trich is like a plaster???

Yeah..... About Trichoderma, if you see it in a sub, that sub is toast, and trich sporulates really quick..... You go to sleep it's a white spot, wake up it's green and already puked spores into your air!!! Just be careful with whatever it is your dealing with. If you think something is potentially contaminated, then get it away from your other stuff I would say!

Besides sight...can feel or taste or smell deduce trich from regular myc progression?

Smell might give you a clue...... Trich will smell damp, kinda musty. Mushroom myc has that nice, clean, awesome smell.
If you ever have a tub with confirmed trich smell it, because then you'll know what I mean.

No, no microscope. And it didn't smell bad. I put tub in garage storage. So its sitting at 55Β° covered in a blanket. My condo is very small and can't afford major contam outbreak at this point .... What can one do with a microscope to identify contams?

Waste their time, tams come from rotting moist organic material, stagnant water, outside ect. It doesn't matter what it is if u think its gonna make things difficult chuck it.
