Need Help from a PC builder with installing Linux on UEFI
    #24908414 - 01/12/18 06:53 PM (9 months, 1 day ago)

I've hit a wall...

Got a new tower PC but the motherboard does not support legacy mode so it has a secure boot thing.

It won't let me install a Linux (tried Lubuntu and Mint) unless I set the home to be not encrypted???

Linux Mint is supposed to install to secure boot mother UEFI motherboards but it is not working.

I have tried using google and the Linux forums.  Everyone says just turn "fast boot" off but this has not made any difference.

I can't figure it out please help!

Posting the make and model of the m/b might help.

2.5 days tring, now fixed!
New Linux Install UEFI common error...

Fail to write grub / fail to install an encrypted Linux...

IF YR MOTHERBOARD DOES NOT SUPPORT LEGACY ONLY, THEN

The issue is with 1 or 2 settings in the BIOS,
under UEFI boot and secure boot,
you always need fast boot off,
clear the secure boot keys,
make sure you always manually use the UEFI boot option,
use a CD or DVD not a USB drive to do this because the USB version always fails to write the GRUB.

leaving this here for anyone with the same problem.  Peace.

I haven't had any issues with installing linux dual boot with windows. I also custom built my machine. I run kali on dual boot.

Did you set the mount to be /

heres a few other posts for ubuntu & linux mint installs

is your machine running GPT (GUID partition table) or MBR (Master boot record)?
