Few questions about colonizing Galindoi shoebox
    #24906011 - 01/11/18 05:15 PM (7 years, 6 days ago)

Hi everyone, 11 days ago on new years eve i spawned my first grain ever to some CVG. I did about a 1:1.5 spawn:sub and added a pseudo casing layer.

My questions are:

1. For 11 days in, how do you think my growth looks so far? I've heard galindoi can be a little bit slow but i'm not 100% sure.

2. When it is fully colonized will it look 100% white, or will I always be able to see a little bit of brown from the CVG even when its fully colonized?

3. Should i be able to see beads on top of the mycelium right now while it is colonizing? Or is that only during the fruiting stage? The myc is covering the majority of the top, however there are no beads of moisture right now.

Thanks

Thats ready to fruit. Sometimes it just looks like that. Ive noticed it gets a denser white when u use manure. Coir tends to look like urs does. I would start misting and whatever ur gonna do for fae. For ur setup i would just turn the lud a few degrees during the day to allow air and evaporation. Mist till it glistens and repeat when it drys off on the surface

Sweet, ill get it fruiting  as soon as I get home from work then.

I'm gonna put about a 1/4 inch casing layer on top, would you recommend putting the lid back on the shoebox and letting the casing partially colonize, or should I immediately crack/flip the lid or dub tub?

From what I've read in the stone producer case then fruit. What kind of casing you going for? I'll be going 50/50 sand and peat.

Yea im gonna be doing 50/50 jiffy/sand.

What method of fae are you gonna use? Flipped or cracked lid, or dub tub?

Probably just dub tub it.

Edit: I've got a gap all the way around so that should do enough fae. If not I'll take top tub off in the day and on at night

Would you put the lid on at all during the day or just open air fruit it?

I thought I read stone producers need much more air than cubes to fruit anyways, and that's why a lot of indoor varieties have small caps, didn't stonesun have trays fruited outside of an FC? I could be wrong not sure, close to no experience with any stone producers and definitely none with the actual mushrooms.

Check out mycolorado.  His mexicana work is awesome.

Its humidity i think they crave.  The fruits are thin and my caps dried up or never matured.

Would you recommend just placing the lid back on then after casing,  unless the shrooms need more room, then dub tub?
