So my mycelium grew in decently and there was neary a sign of trouble during all the shakes. i shook my jar a lot. first timer thing i guess. anyways i'm waiting for full colonization and it's been like 4 days since i asked about it.
how's this progress look? 4 days ago

today

condensation is increasing, but the mycelium still looks good. what to make of that?

hey guys thanks for commenting,
I'm being a total mother hen about this. gonna really take a look at that jar now. gray can mean the mycelium is dying, or that a contam is present?
just looked the jar again. it's white. the res on my camera is total shit and the lighting for that photo was terrible. i'll give it a full seven days then ask again. once i do lay it down into a bed of substrate how many days until that colonizes?
and once it's in the bed to colonize it's also going to be set up to build up CO2 then evaporation will encourage pinning? and once fruiting begins polyfil will get stuffed? it should receive light the entire time?
i'm excited and worried at the same time. i keep expecting disaster.

Condensation is just condensation, its not bacteria.
But that jar does not look healthy to me. The myc has kind of a powdery look to it, it looks off. Could very well be bacterial.
When you do spawn to a bulk substrate, you mix your spawn and sub evenly. Usually colonizes within a week or so.

Condensation is the result of the the temperature difference between inside the jar and ambient room temperature. The fix for condensation is to keep the colonizing area at a consistent temperature.
Spawn doesn't look good either.

OK, I did the mix the night before last i believe, so the 9th.
This is it now. the red circles are mycelium coming up through a thin top layer of coir verm. was that ok? didn't get told to do that, or read it anywhere, just did it.
before too much spraying
 ************************************** after too much spraying

i believe i sprayed the surface a bit too much, it's been airing out / evaporating for about 10 min. gonna check on it and close the lid if it doesn't look to wet again.
so the presence of CO2 causes what again? i remember CO2 presence is important for encouraging pinning?
and then evaporation kicks fruiting off? i'm trying to remember.
