IMPORTANT POLL - Fainting on magic mushrooms 6

Please take this poll if you know of anyone that has fainted on magic mushrooms or if you yourself have experienced this. This survey is supposed to collect valuable information so that we can make tripping even safer than it already is. A lof of new users are unaware of how common it is to faint on magic mushrooms and this experience can be quite troubling and can even cause a fear of tripping in the future. I belie ve it´s time we start combining our minds so that we solve this problem and raise awareness.

Your poll would be more effective if you geared the questions toward figuring out the individuals experience rather than gather mere opinion from poeple who dont know shit about blood sugar etc.

I hope people will describe their experiences in this thread, I couldn´t cover everything in the poll of course. Only what I know from experience. I´d like to know more from people that have fainted or know others that have. Please share your experiences.

I have fainted once while on mushrooms and have been on the verge of fainting a few other times.
A friend of mine collapsed and had some brief convulsions (convulsive syncope, not a seizure) while on mushrooms a few years ago.
And about once a month around here on the shroomery, over the many years I've been here, I have seen threads about people mentioning a story about someone fainting while on mushrooms....or thinking that they or their friend had a "seizure" while on mushrooms and they're all freaked out about it not knowing what happened.....But from reading the descriptions of what happened and hearing the story of it all, in just about every case it sounds like the person fainted because of low blood pressure and/or low blood sugar (BP and blood sugar are related, low blood sugar can lead to low BP), and had some convulsions.
This is convulsive syncope and not a seizure. Convulsions are normal after fainting but they don't always occur. When people are tripping and see this happen to their friend, or if it happens to themselves, and if they are not aware of what convulsive syncope is....I can imagine how freaked out people might become, and of course the conclusion is "it must have been a seizure".
Another thing that stands out in all the stories I've heard about people fainting from mushrooms over the years (like I said, I see threads/posts on the shroomery about this happening somewhat regularly).....In most stories the person smoked cannabis shortly before they fainted, and cannabis can cause a pretty dramatic drop in blood pressure.
So mushrooms have the potential to make one's blood pressure all wonky, enough so that I've fainted from them before. If the person fasted before taking the mushrooms their blood sugar is going to be low which will contribute to low blood pressure even more so...And then if the person smokes some weed that's going to drop their BP even farther.
Fainting while on mushrooms is indeed a somewhat common occurrence, or at least it's not unheard of, it happens from time to time & often enough to be a "thing" lol. Mushrooms alone can make BP a bit wonky, throw other factors into the mix like fasting and/or cannabis and/or the person already having naturally low blood pressure as it is, and some people are going to drop ....It's pretty harmless (so as long as one does't hurt themselves when fainting/falling) but can be a rather scary thing to experience or see happen to another if you are not at all familiar with the symptoms of low blood pressure (especially when tripping). The symptoms & feels of low BP are pretty shitty & dysphoric, feeling dizzy & lightheaded, tunnel vision, feeling very hot & sweaty or cold sweats, pins & needles, lots of anxiety usually....If that starts happening to someone while they're tripping and they don't know why that's happening I can see it really freaking someone out....
Or if, while tripping, someone see's their friend collapse and go into convulsions they're probably going to be all freaked out thinking their friend just had a seizure...but there's a chance it wasn't (in most cases at least lol).

What you describe is exactly what I have learned these past years from gf passing out on shrooms. She has passed out 3 ouf of 4 times she has ingested shrooms. The last time when she did´t faint was the first time that she stufed her belly with complex carbs and fast carbs before tripping and sipping on an energy drink and eating nuts during the trip. And she didn´t smoke cannabis this time either.

I have fainted on mushrooms twice. both times were very similar situations...i fainted right after smoking weed during the comedowns, convulsed while kind of puking, and then came to feeling confused but fine. i did not fast at all prior to those trips, but i can see how that could definitely add to the likeliness of fainting. i have always had low blood pressure though. up until reading this, i had never thought of weed as a factor, but now it makes perfect sense. also, i had always thought that my convulsions were seizures, not convulsive syncope.

I think you should add to your poll:
Have you ever heard of someone breaking their friend’s coffee table with their head from taking shrooms?

I have fainted several times using large amounts of cannabis, I also have moderately low blood pressure.
I have not felt that way after consuming mushrooms before but my experience equates to less than a couple dozen times, which is a drop in the bucket compared to the weed.
For me I know too much cannabis will start this fuzzy faintness feeling where I know if I don't sit down, I'm going down.
I guess I should be aware of this in the future if I consume mushrooms. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. I wonder if low BP and/or cannabis are often precursors?

I haven't full on fainted, but I have felt really close on a couple occaisions but managed to sit down safely. Definitely preceded by feeling very hot and light headed and confused. One time was stress induced, other times had more mysterious causes. I could see weed adding to it just because of the whole light headed factor. Weed has been known to affect blood pressure and blood sugar as well, so if either of those are causes I could see weed increasing the chances of it happening. That being said I always smoke when I travel and usually don't have such problems.

Hi everyone, I am a new member to this awesome community.
So, recently I was fortunate enough to come across a large amount of shrooms. I have tripped mushrooms many times before, but it had been several years. Anyway, last week I tried 1.5 grams on Tuesday and had an excellent time. I decided to double up on Wednesday and see what kind of effects I get (I am familiar with tolerance and didn't expect a heavy trip). I did feel them but it was pretty mellow. About 4 hours in I got a dull headache and felt a sudden and big swing in my blood pressure. I looked in the mirror and started to get light headed and feel this impending sense of doom. Next thing I know I woke up on the floor extremely confused and disoriented. I proceeded to go to bed where my blood pressure made continued big swings for the following 3 or so hours.
Doing a little research it seems to be fairly common occurrence for people to faint on mushrooms (although in a dozen or so experiences with the substance I have never had it happen). I ate a bagel with peanut butter for breakfast and a cheeseburger for lunch. Dosed the shrooms at 1:30pm. I passed out at 5pm. I don't think I was particularly dehydrated. I did smoke some weed immediately before the episode, but I am a regular and pretty heavy cannabis user.
I recently (6 months ago) had an anaphylactic reaction to a hemp protein bar and I was concerned the fainting spell was another allergic reaction. However, this time I did not experience swelling of the mouth, tongue or throat. I felt like my face swelled up some, but the sensation could have been due to my blood pressure.
What I'm wondering is if this sounds like a fainting episode similar to what users have seen with mushrooms? I have no experience with blood sugar problems, so I don't know if that could have possibly been the cause? I am going in to have skin and blood allergy tests done on Wednesday, hoping that could shed some light on the situation if I am allergic to mold. It would just be a real shame if I had to get rid of all these boomers and couldn't eat anymore of them....
Any advice, feedback, recommendations or otherwise are appreciated.

Most likely because of this.
Majortiy of fainting mushroom people I've talked to experienced fainting shortly after smoking.

Thanks for the reply. I am really hoping this is the situation. It certainly wasn't expected, and it is now causing a fair amount of anxiety for me.

Yes, fairly certain blood sugar and pressure were the cause as I hadn't eaten for 8ish hours and had smoked a fair bit of cannabis with the shrooms which consistently drops my blood pressure a bit. I can no longer fast because low blood sugar easily overrides my meds and triggers my epilepsy and have neither fainted nor felt faint since eating something light every two hours during the trip.

Even though this thread is quite old I wanted to add my experience hoping to contribute in understanding this phenomenon. I never experienced any light headedness or fainting on shrooms. Even though my blood pressure is quite low, e.g. 105/65 when doing office work. Doing sports regularly and having a healthy/veg. diet. I'm a moderate weed user (1-3x a week) but never smoke 2 days before a trip or during a trip. So it might really be closely connected to weed? That's relly interesting...

I've never had an issue but a friend of mine cannot smoke at the peak, she goes dizzy, nauseated and feels like she will pass out. It appears it has some effect on the cardiovascular system making it less efficient so perhaps when smoking and oxygen is decreased and carbon monoxide increased it causes some people to struggle. Could also be some sort of underlying health issue.

Hi it's probably not a seizure but Hypoxic shock due to low oxygen. This causes you to jump around. I see this a lot with blood donors when they don't get enough oxygen to the brain due to low pressure after donating.
