2 jars of the 8 had a shake last night around 7pm GMT. This is what they looked like 12 hrs later. I maybe should've done 24hr pic instead.

I'll spawn it. See you in 10 days or less with trich. Cos that's how it'll turn out.

Because every single tub I've done gets trich. If I case and fruit the jars as they are I will get shrooms. When I spawn to bulk I get trich.

Yep I've done CVG, coir verm and straight coir all with trich. So that makes my spawn shit. But where it's going shit I have no idea. Maybe putting the agar in the jar. But then I've spawned cakes to bulk and had the same happen. I thought it might be the coir but the boiling water should kill the trich off.

No it doesnt mean ur spawns shit. It could be something else. When u do ur coir, u have to squeeze out all the excess water or its gets trich. Used to happen to me till i realuzed i had to squeeze every handful of that shit b4 spawning. And dont use hydroponic coir. It has trich already. Helps stimulate plant groth believe it or not. Gotta use the pet bedding coir. But ill bed the problem was too much water in the coir. Even if u use the recomended amount of water it needs to be squeezed well.

Its not the coir. You could prep coir with cold water if you wanted to and it will be OK.
The reason we heat treat the coir is because it breaks it down, makes it easier for the mycelium to digest it.
You certainly want your substrate to be prepped at field capacity but a little excess water will not cause coir to mold.

If you are using a coir substrate with no additives that need to be pasteurized, and you are getting Trich before or during the first flush it is definetly  your spawn.

To 1 brick I did 3.5q of water then boiled it. I'm using compressed bricks from a hydro shop but bricks are compressed at high temps. Also if I leave out the coir as a control it doesn't trich up.

Oh the coir looks very dry after and no water comes out when squeezed.

It's got to be when I inoculate the jars with agar. It's the only thing I can think of. Or polyfill filter which I believe it can't be that as a needle won't push through its that tight(trying tyvek just to see if it could be).

Look up "Field capacity". When you pick up a handful of your substrate it shouldn't drip any. When you squeeze a handful tightly a very small stream of water should come from between your knuckles.

You have to make sure your substrate is at field capacity every time. With Coir its easy, if its too dry after you prep it slowly add more water and mix until it hits proper field capacity.
If its too wet, add dry verm and mix until its correct.

With lid failure I usually see contamination at the top of the spawn jar.
It could be that your culture wasn't clean to start with or your sterile tek is flawed during your agar to grain inoculation.
Are you using a still air box or a flow hood?
Are you just inoculating all your spawn by agar to grain or are you doing G2G transfers?

So it ain't filter cos is only when going to bulk. I've added 500ml water to dampen the coir a bit for the 2 jars above.
I'm using a SAB.

All my jars are agar to grain. I've not done any G2G yet seeing as I can't do this bit right. I'll get some pics of plates in a moment.

Just make sure you check it for field capacity

When you squeeze a handful tight, you should get a nice little stream from your knuckles. A tight squeeze

Its from a hydro shop. They purposly have trich to aid in plant growth. Theres 1000 posts on here of people getting trich with hydto coir. Pet bedding coir is much cleaner, i never have a problem.
