First harvest, and trich on half pint cake 1

Hey all! Tonight I had my first decent harvest.

When I finished harvesting, I carried the cakes through my house to my kitchen for dunking. When I got to the kitchen sink, I turned a cake over and noticed the green, sandy looking stuff on the bottom. I immediately threw the cake in the trash and Lysol'd my whole house and the clothes I was wearing. Now I'm freakimg out because I walked through my house with it. It was sitting on top of another cake as I carried it. I've heard time and time again that carrying trich through a house will ruin future grows. Am I screwed?

Your house was probably full of trich before you took the cake through it. Start with clean cakes and it wont matter if the place is over run with trich.

It doesn't help, no. But you'll be OK man.
Its just good to get it out ASAP. If I discover it I bag the whole tub in a trash bag before taking it outside to dump and clean it. Try this next time. Eventually you will learn to spot Trich before it sporulates while its still white, crystalline mycelium.

Yeah I've read that it's pretty much everywhere anyway. I just wan't sure if it was hard to beat.

Thanks guys. That put my mind at ease. So far I've had 29 cakes and 10 trays colonize with no contams. First grow and no contams yet until that incident. Some people say they'll ruin any chances of you growing in your house again. That's what had me freaking out. The cakes were sitting on jar lids with the shiny side up. They had some water built up on the lid itself without me really noticing. I guess that's why it grew on the bottom of the cake without me noticing. I won't be setting them on lids like that again.

Could have been the issue with the pooling water. As mushpunx said its best if you spot it before it goes to spore.should be extra white and crystal like..like a patch of salt sitting on the myc. Once you see it toss it fast. Ive had trich tubs plenty of times in my grow room. Its always been from dirty spawn. As long as i put good spawn in my tubs trich is a none issue. Just get clean cakes..
