Only you know how much you used, so how much did you use? Im gonna say you used about 3% by the looks of it, that´s way too much for a LC. Try to have control over your methods and you will be successful.

I built my own balance scale when I needed to measure out agar and nutes, worked pretty well

If I wanted to measure out 6g of agar I would first squirt in 6ml of water on the one dish on the scale and fill up with agar into the other dish until it balances out, that way I know I´m very close to exact measurments. Worked very good when the batteries were dead in my digital scale.

Also pc for just 20min. I take the malt(1gram is 1/2 tsp i think...) add it to cold water. Shake it up good. Always comes out clear as f.
I make it just like agar. Minus the agar of course.
Get a scale! Useful for cooking and keeping small pets on precise diets

Also you want Extra light malt extract. Not just Light malt xtract or golden light extract you want EXTRA light malt extract for the clearest broths but any will work as far as growth I believe.
here is a partially colonized "golden" Light malt extract lc
still clear just "golden"

even my wheat flour nasty lc is actually very clear at 1g per 500ml except for when I stir/swirl the sediment gets all up in it and you can't see shit for a while until it settles again..
But definitely go with Grain water or light malt extract if your just starting lc and want the clearest of visibility.

Anywhere from a fraction of a percent up to 10% is good, it just depends how thick you want it to be. It sounds like maybe it's caramelizing, either you're PCing it too long/too hot or it's old/expired malt (took me awhile to figure that one out).
I feel like anyone asking questions about LC should not use a LC though. Any kinds of questions, LC is a great way to waste time and fuck things up. The only reason I'd even consider doing a LC is if I were growing on an industrial scale and had absolute confidence that my culture did not even have a single contaminant spore in there, otherwise agar or g2g is the way to go; it's not worth the risk. You might think it's very convenient and will save a few minutes here and there, but the risk you're taking is wasting hours, weeks, or even months and lots of grain and bulk substrate. Don't do it OP, don't do it.

Well this is my first time using dry malt extract. Before I was using Malt extract agar and Karo. It worked. Trying to step my game up thou.I thought maybe it might be caramelization, but I'm not sure that malt extract does that. Thought it was mostly honey and karo. And u PCed about 15 min once it came up to heat

Well if it works for you now changing the sugar shouldn't make it not work then as far as contamination goes . I'm guessing old malt. I had a similar issue and was told the same although I can't say for sure as I haven't tried another source yet to verify otherwise.

yeah I think that's it. check my pic of 1g per 500ml water with "golden" light vs mushboys with "extra" light malt extract.
just use 1g per 500ml and it'll still be pretty clear just with some amber coloring.
