Q's: Preservation Methods and Potency loss over time

I'll soon be harvesting a decent batch of cubes and I have found a lot of conflicting information about potency and how preservation methods can affect potency. Some people will say genetics is the end-all of the potency question. Others might add that slower growing cubes are more potent. Others will point to heated dehydrators as degrading potency. Others will simply say to make a fresh batch.
Preservation methods I've tried include honey (with fresh and dry mushrooms), and I've also tried good ol' dehydrate and stick in a cool dark place. My last grow was in 2016, and I discovered after 6 months or so that my mushrooms were dramatically less potent than they had been even 2 or 3 months prior. Within a year, they were no longer active in a reasonable dose. Ingesting 5 dry grams per person did nothing to me or 3 other people-- about a year after they'd been harvested and dried.
It seems to me after countless hours of reading here that questions about potency are entirely guesswork or anecdotal evidence of those chiming in to talk about it. I'm hoping this thread will attract a few more experienced voices here on shroomery.
My questions are these:
What is your experience with potency loss over time with dried cubes?
Do you have a preference for how you preserve cubes? (ie is heat a real factor in potency loss or is this unfounded? I know psilocybin degrades at a higher temperature than boiling water but I have never dried mushrooms without a heated dehydrator myself)
Other than growing cyanescens or some other species, what do you do to guarantee potency in your grows?
Do tinctures of psilocybin actually work in the long-term and has anyone here had luck with them?
Thank you so much for your time if you read this. This forum has been a place I've spent many nights combing over for good information, and I am always happy to have an excuse to come back.

Stored cracker dry and in a air tight container they last at least a year. Probably a lot longer.
You can cook with cubes. Fry em even.
This gets asked every week it seems. Use a food dehydrator with heat. To lock in the potency.

Has it been your experience that after a year or more, yours are still active? The majority of what I had was dried, ground, and stored in honey. Seeing as I'm about to have a new batch to work with, I'd like to avoid making any mistakes that might've caused my last batch to degrade.

Of course they're still active. Otherwise they wouldn't have lasted a year lol.
My friend found some of my cubes stored in his tackle box over a year later they still worked great.

I've been using gallon mason jars recently, I have a bunch of them floating around, works great Whenever I have used ziplocks over long periods the fruits absorb moisture from the air and lose their snap, which I'm sure degrades them.
I havent seen a noticeable drop in potency when dried on a dehydrator and stored in glass

I remember when I first joined...anyone who would ask a question like this would then get hit with UTFSE by 6 other members back to back...even though some of these questions get old...glad to see that doesn't happen anymore.

i just did my cambodian cubes, which i grew more than a year ago. 0 potency loss. dry them cracker dry in a heated dryer, put em in a jar with silica gel, close it and put it in a dark place. voila.

I wonder what caused my experience to be different from all of yours. I wish I was exaggerating to say that a total of 4 people, each at a 5 gram dose, got zero effects 12 months after harvest. I'll try again and see what happens this time.

before i grew my own i bought shrooms that werent cracker dry, and a half year later they didnt work at all. water destroys psilocybin. invest in the fruit dryer, its the best thing that i bought for my shrooms.
