PC problems
    #24895433 - 01/06/18 11:05 PM (7 years, 10 days ago)

My Jars Always Flip Over Inside The Pc ,, Is It Bc Im Using Too Much Water?
I Only Fill The Water Til It’s Covering Half The Jar.
I Can Only Fit 5 Jars At A Time ,, But Even When It’s A Tight Fit They Still Manage To Tilt & Become Waterlogged.
Advice?

Sounds like to much water. Get the instruction manual and follow it.

Water doesnt need to be halfway up the jars. Just has to be enough the PC doesnt run dry. Try using less or failing that balling up some foil to lift the trivet.

What size PC are you using? How are you elevating the jars off of the bottom?

Water slightly licking them is fine I think, but if they are falling over obviously from movement, there's too much. Always make sure the foil is sealed nice and tight too. I like to double up on it personally.

Put empty jars in the pressure cooker too to pack it out.

I put jar lid rings around the outside to stop the jars from touching the sides of the pressure cooker and to help jam them all in there.

You want a tiny bit of wiggle room to allow for expansion of jars when heated, but not enough that they can fall over.

Screwed up balls of foil can also be used as a packing material with some good success.

Try a couple of these to raise the jars over the water. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Stainless-Steel-Dim-Sum-Vegetable-Steamer-Steam-Rack-Plate-Silver/181436842094?hash=item2a3e7a806e:m:mXLGSkg97L1Ihi_AUIUkOGA

Also, you could be overfilling the PC with water. Putting the right amount of water for PC is tricky, but with practice, it becomes more obvious.

I don't even do 1/3, in my 18qt pc i use maybe 2/3 inches of water...there's always plenty left after a 120 min cycle.
