THIS JUST IN!
    #2489474 - 04/01/04 01:14 AM (20 years, 23 hours ago)

THE UNIVERSE ISNT INFINITE! ONLY THE SOUL IS INFINITE. I was thinking how Space cant exist without a point and b point. So Space is big. But not infinite. We created Space. An infinite Space cant exist. The concept of an infinite space is just to draw away from your own infinity.

That is all...

If the universe isn't infinite, then what is the space our universe occupies ?
Is our universe located inside another bigger universe which we can't see ?
Is the universe beyond our own universe, finite or infinite ?
"Is anybody out there ..........." (presses head against rubber wall)  and smiles  :yesnod:

There is no soul. Don't look for your science here.

But asking at all is a good start.

That's a cool concept.  I just know about me as an infinite being (along with God), and that's all I really need.  The rest sure is a lot of fun to think about though.

Whereas the universe may have no physical boundaries, and is thus infinite, the infinity of the spirit is always constant, never changing, everlasting. The universe is impermanent and constantly changing and reworking itself.

It exist in a moving sphere. There is just something outside of that sphere for us to think about the sphere. Because its something to give us a veiw point. When that space you imagine the sphere does not actually exist in reality. Its just a veiwpoint. Does not mean its real.

Doesn't matter because that "space" isn't defined until our universe occupies it.

Space is finite, yet infinitely divisible

Source is infinite, yet measurable

Void is without measure, yet center is everywhere

"We created Space"

please explain further...sounds very interesting and a more deatil would be fantastic!

what do you essentially mean by "created"?

"So Space is big. But not infinite"

infinite in what way?? do you mean infinite in dimensions (dimension here being referred towards euclidian geometry definition)? or how about infinite is existence...as in eternal.

" An infinite Space cant exist"

what do you mean it can't? who are you to say what is and what isn't?

"The concept of an infinite space is just to draw away from your own infinity."

but infinity in itself is a concept humans created...so what do you mean?

Annnnnnd I had a light saber and my friend was there and I said "you look like an indian" and he said "you look like satan" and he found a stick and a rock and he named the rock ooga booga and he named the stick Stick and we both thought that was pretty funny. We got eaten alive by mosquitos but didn't notice til the next day. I stepped on some glass while wading in the swamp and cut my foot open, didn't bother me til the next day either....yeah it was a good time, ended the night by buying some liquor for minors and drinking nips and going to he diner and eating chicken fingers, and then I went home and went to bed.

well, membrane theory supposes that our universe is merely a bubble, floating in a sea of other membrane universes. What we know as the big bang was the collision of two membrane universes, merging to create a new universe/reality.

From a theological perspective, I have always considered this theory similar to the idea that our universe is merely a cell in the "body" of "god".

Perhaps, from certain perspectives. I recognize a theme throughout his posts which is difficult to put into words or conceptualize...

The soul is infinite?? How'd you figure that one out?

The concept of zero or centre is a strange one. The centre is a single point (1 dimensional)But isn't that infinitely small? How can there really be a centre?

I also started thinking. Maybe everyone who thinks there has to be something outside the universe is wrong. Sometimes we think we are really smart because we can grasp the concept of infinity..but whats even harder is, can you grasp the concept of nothing? What if the universe, as it is a 4 dimensional figure, is not inside of anything. Infact in a 4th dimensional figure, there is no mathematical known means to escape. If you travel in one direction of the universe, you will eventually end up in the same place. So perhaps there is nothing outside the universe and the universe is all there is.

I was also thinking about how scientists were saying how they have proven the universe "is slowing down". That might be good evidence towards a theory that the universe never even had a big bang, but has always been this 4 dimensional figure. Galaxies moving and the universe slowing down could be explained as a phase of the 4d figure. The concept of what a 4d object is, is rather confusing. Look it up, it has to do with its dimensions folding in on each other, limits expanding and contracting. Basically it's layers are moving around.

Hhmm... good thoughts, man.

I enertain the thought that perhaps space is just an illusion. Does a thought exist physically? This could just be one thought.....

I don't think there is one logical solution that we can come up with, at least at this point in time.
Peace. :mushroom2:
