First grow...ever. Does this look ok? Any constructive criticism would be greatly appreciated.

I've read and learned a lot on this site. I hope to read and learn a lot more. Many humble thanks for sharing your experiences and expertise.

You should have let the substrate fully colonize before fruiting. You now have a very high probability for contamination to take over before the first flush is over. Though it might pull through and do awesome...

What chu talking about, wyllis?
Lots of people fruit directly after they spawn to bulk
Coir is only going to contam if the spawn is dirty.
I got some coir that was sitting in a bucket for 3 months and it doesn't have a spec of anything on it. I'm going to use it lol

You have wet buckets of coir sitting around your house? Clean your fucking room
On a serious note...I am just speaking from my experience. I am aware that people do that...i do not recommend it. The only tubs I have ever go bad before a second flush were when I tried fruiting them to soon. Could just be a coincidence and I had dirty spawn

Any comments on the conditions so far?
I was also wondering about the little pin in the middle of the closer pic with a splitting cap? (is that what you call it?) Is that a problem? I noticed a few more are doing that same type of thing.
Next time I will wait until full colonization for sure!
Thanks.

It’s just better practice to allow the mycelium to fully colonize the substrate...coir yes is a lot more forgiving than other subs, however good habits can have their advantages too.

I've been misting and fanning quite a bit so I'm going to go with mutant blob. I haven't let it dry completely since I first started seeing knots and pins.

BTW, is this where I should post questions such as the one I posted? If not, could someone lead me in the right direction?
Thanks again.

Should I harvest these mutant blobs? If not yet, when? Looks like their caps are opened already.
Thanks,

Harvest whenever you want bud...if the veils have broken and the caps are starting to fold inside out go ahead and cut them out....that’s what I would do at least lol

That is what my buddy who gave me the spawn said...B+. I guess he could have been wrong.
Interesting. I will keep this post updated.
Once it fattens up, how do I know when to harvest the mutants? Or is there still a veil that breaks even though the gills are already showing?
Thanks a lot!
moisture level look good and everything? I've been misting and fanning.

If the gills are showing the veils have broken...maybe let them go till they drop spores...maybe?

I harvested the mutant blobs with the gills open. I did see some spores coming off the biggest one, hence the harvest. Looks like some more mutant blobs to come, I think they are side blobbing as well. They won't go to waste though.
Sorry Tormato, I somehow didn't see your first post after the pic about the gills showing, didn't mean to ask a q you just answered.
Thanks so much for the help. I have a couple of "normal" pins going and hope the second flush shows some different results.
