Mick your panic sell was the killer I think, that put you on the wrong track. You misanticipated the selloff, then you bought, then there actually WAS a christmas selloff after all :hugitout:

Do listen to all the highly responsible highly professional investors who can turn a 5 point graph into a 1000 page book, but do not forget to set a little time aside to listen to some successful youtube crypto kids, blended in with all the experts, as an alternative viewpoint.

Like this cheerful young Jamaican who flipped 50 bucks into 6 figures:

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCNIgAFdwYiyqaXG_fp13ufg

Get diversification not just in your assets but also in your information sources, specifically including some young folks who don't really do the in-depth statistical analyses but who have a knack for spotting the no brainer deals, which is what especially rookies can be good at. Even if the advice is off the wall and incorrect, it breaks the echo chamber effect which occurs when experts all make the same mistake because they all neatly apply the exact same principles to the exact same data which might lead to a chorus of an erroneous conclusion.

Sure, NEO will rise th8is month they all agree, but what about the new coin on the block no one talks about yet that's about to quadruple in a week?

Diversity in sources, including unconventional sources. This is why I advise people invested in following the mainstream media to watch Al Jazeera and Alex Jones - seeing the biases in the shoe on the other foot will help you recognize the biases in your main information sources.

Funny that with alts crashing and btc rising that Dogecoin is still up. I bought about 200$ at .0044 and sold at .0115 yesterday thinking it will crash down to .0085 or .009 but of course its still hovering around where i sold. Buy back in or wait for it to fall?

should have done that with my ADA or XLM instead

One other quick piece of advice, mick: Don't overtrade!

Money is made during the calm period of patience that exists in between the purchase and the sale.  Hyperactive trading has lost me more money than I'd care to admit (a lesson I've had to relearn time and time again throughout my tenure in the stock market).

In a more specific market note, decentralized exchanges are finding a pretty solid bid here.  Take a look at AirSwap (AST), 0x (ZRX) and Loopring (LRC).  Careful buying into the strength.  While I would recommend having one or few of these on your books, don't feel like you need to pile in all at once right here, right now.  Build positions in names you have confidence in over time, so as to take advantage of market weakness, then scale out as the opportunity presents itself.  Buy the dips, sell the rips.

My allocations as of this afternoon:

  • Cash ($) 16.5%
  • NEO (NEO) 12%
  • Ether (ETH) 11.5%
  • Cardano (ADA) 11.5%
  • Neblio (NEBL) 9.5%
  • WaBi (WABI) 7.5%
  • EOS (EOS) 7%
  • Bitcoin (BTC) 5.5%
  • ICON (ICX) 4%
  • OmiseGo (OMG) 4%
  • VeChain (VEN) 3%
  • Monero (XMR) 3%
  • AirSwap (AST) 2.5%
  • Ripple (XRP) 2.5%

I dont get the "Cash" part. Is that just regular cash savings/checking account?

My allocations are all even between Bitcoin, BC Cash and Etherum.

The dollar allocation noted is held in a domestic exchange account that I use as a gateway between crypto and fiat.  I began scaling out of some of my crypto during the last two weeks as I found my aggregate crypto portfolio since inception up over 5700%.  The cash is still sitting in the exchange account just in case we see some major price dislocation.  I have a couple of lowball bids open on ZEC and XMR in particular.

I should also note that these dollars are in fact US dollars, not Tethers, which are sometimes referred to on exchanges as USDT.  Tethers are a token instrument created by Bitfinex, which I am quite concerned about as having the potential to cause a significant crash in the crypto markets if it is exposed via audit that they do not carry the 1:1 USD backing that they claim to hold.  I would definitely recommend against using Tethers in any of your accounts.  While it is a tempting method for parking value out of crypto on foreign exchanges, the risk that they could be unbacked and could come crashing down like a house of cards is too great.

/end rant on Tethers

Mick, as you have been already told and as I always say, its best to sit tight rather than day trade. Ride out the little bumps along the way and harvest a nice profit. Its not too late to get back in and make a nice buck.

Asante, good for you, 3.33 times your money in a month or so is considered fantastic in the stock market or in anything. But in cryptos its the norm if you are careful in buying and don't bail out too soon.

Geo, we have all lost a lot of loot I think by selling too soon and trying to grab a quick few percent when we were sure enough when we got in that it was a good buy. Unless there is some verifiable reason why its no longer a good investment, stay in. I'm sure you know that, I'm saying it mostly for the noobs (like me). I sold piles of btc at 1000 to 2000 and then had to buy back at 3000+ which turned out great but staying in would have been much better.

I'm staying away from dog coin, ripple, and a few others. I figure the money has already been made on the pump and we know what comes next. Usually. I will look into those alts, almost made a buy last night but binance was not working. I have to put it on my phone. But from what people are saying, alts have dipped so might be a better buying opportunity today. No, I'm not selling everything out of panic, lol.

Avoid bitfinex and shapeshift, very sketchy and shapeshift has had numerous complaints lately about people not getting coin and support being awol. I also distrust coinbase for various reasons. Try to sell your coin when it soars and they will mysteriously be unable to complete your order or have crashed altogether.

“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship.” (attributed to Alexis de Tocqueville political philosopher Circa 1835)

Actually I prefer people being unreasonable over trifles over the really nasty stuff we sometimes get.

People on stimulant binges, banned for improper posts who instead write an essay in a support ticket, replying to their own ticket ten times in a row in an hour is cool. :dizope:

Ha. I'm not taking that bet. I never said they would to continue to drop until it hits 20k. Just that they would drop and BTC would go up. I might win if I take that bet anyways, which I'm not, because BTC is over $17000 already.

Also 5900% :O well played sir!
