Don’t need any other indigestible material in my belly further encouraging the nausea. It’s also not fun picking it out of your teeth or scraping it against your asshole as you wipe.

I don't even use it with my grows...
It's messy as hell and I got it everywhere, haha. Spilled some on the floor once when I first started growing and it was a nightmare... . Lol. Got rid of that stuff as soon as I learned I didn't NEED it.
Nope, just an uncased 50/50 coir-hpoo sub is all I need, with some gypsum and a little chopped straw thrown in preferably!
Just my personal preference....

When I bought dry shrooms on the street, way back when, I used to wonder what the shiny particles were that stuck to them. After growing plants for a while, I figured out what was going on.
I've usually just tried to dust the vermiculite off the shrooms a bit, and then consume. Haven't had any problems.
I could see some providers leaving it there for the minimal added weight, though I can't quite approve of the practice. If you're growing your own, it should be a simple matter to avoid most of the problem before drying.

A mixture of Coco coir and well aged horse poo (hpoo-manure). Which is just how I do it.... Many different mushroom substrate materials will work, many prefer to use just straight Coco coir by itself as it does simplify the process somewhat...... But I really like the results I get from using aged horse manure, with coir mixed in.
I can get an unlimited supply of this hpoo which is the main reason I incorporate it into my bulk substrates. Plus its how I first started doing things (chopped straw and aged hpoo, no coir) and it works.... It does require a lot more manual labor to prep your substrate material when using hpoo though, it has to be aged when you collect it, and then well shredded by hand or some other means.
Eco Earth is the same brand of coir I have been using lately, works well enough for me personally. All brands of Coco coir are fundamentally the same, the consistency of the cut is just different with some brands I think.

I might have to give that a try... Saving money on un-necessary materials sounds good to me...do you still get the same results come harvest time
