Chode shrooms. Do I have anything to worry about?

This is flush two of my first grow and one of my cakes started making these:
As you can see the stems are very short and fat. On the smaller pins the stems are actually totally overtaking and covering the cap.
I am planning on just letting them grow and seeing if the caps actually form into something resembling a mushroom and then harvesting them in a few days of nothing changes. Just wondering if these are potentially problematic and if I should take them out now.

im not sure, but i have 1 on a cake now that is doing somthing similar to that. It looks like a donut now, the stem is big and round and you can barely see the cap in the middle (the cap sort of looks like a belly button if that helps). I suppose we shall both find out what they will do soon enough.
Im interested in hearing what others have to say about this though... you people with tons of experiance speak up.

I thought I read somewhere that fatasses are caused by inadequate C02 exchange...maybe try fanning more?

True but if you look at the shroom on the cake right beside it, it looks normal. He said jsut one of his cakes was doing it. Unless theres some kind of weird air pocket, near that cake, I'd say it has to do with the cake itself.

Ah right, good point. Maybe fatasses develop if C02 levels are too high at a critical point in development which would account for the others not being symptomatic. Just a thought...

i think its possible that the genetics of that specific substrain pair actually caused a mutant shroomie. take a clone and see if all the shrooms from that are short fatasses.

Hey i think its a blessing, that is a lot of shroom matter. On one of my cat's last cakes, all of the pins just got really fat with big caps, and didnt get long. Some cakes just do that i guess. Peace.

I believe that is due to using cakes on a strain that requires lots of nutrients. They grow big and fat at first but then with enough nutrients(more than the cakes) they will shoot up towards the end and look like normal mushrooms. Without that nutrients they stay fat.

This is the second flush on this cake. The first one was perfectly normal. I'll post a pick when I harvest the final product.
