    #2486869 - 03/31/04 11:24 AM (20 years, 1 day ago)

hey guys i have a nice alienware computer duel 3.6 mhz 1gig ram nice video card, 100 gig hard drive, dvd burner/player, and a cd-rw, its loaded with crazy stuff. anyways im done showing off, my problem:

computer is over 6 months old. about 2 months ago i was messing around in an aol chat with people who were claiming to be hackers, and i was just mouthing off thinking they were just progie newbies. well a couple days later i was talking to a friend on aol, and he msged me with a link, i ACCEDENTLY clicked it. and it went to some website, where my computer shut down, and i restarted it and the BIOS screen was a picture of what looked like to be a one of thouse IEET Font type names like CH33T4H or somthing, and my computer talked to me in startup, NOT FROM THE SPEAKERS from the computer. talks to fast but says something about the "memory system" i dont want to format my computer i have so much shit on here. anyways any ideas?

Sounds like and expensive computer, and sounds like you have money. Buy another hard drive. Set your old one to slave and your new hard drive to master, reinstall everything and then take off what you want from the hard drive.

Its most likely talking about the RAM not the hard drive. You should get a firewall like zonealarm, you can get a free version from www.zonealarm.com that way you won't have to worry about hackers, at least not so much.

Its possible that the ram just needs to be reseated or something. If its less than a year old and its a hardware problem, I'd think you'd be covered under warrenty, you should call tech support.

Good luck.

I have heard of someone being able to remotely flash the BIOS, although I've never seen it. Try reflashing it with the proper files, and password protect it to be extra safe.
