Can mycelium defeat cobweb mold?
    #24878235 - 12/30/17 08:41 AM (7 years, 18 days ago)

I noticed a few of my friend’s jars inoculated with PES Amazonian started to show signs of cobweb mold contamination so he put them in a separate place to avoid contam of his other jars but he wanted to see what would happen. He noticed that a week later it seems as if some of the cakes have completely overtaken the cobweb mold and seem to be normal now and almost 100% colonized. Any recommendations or knowledge on what to do here would be great. He wants to set them up in a separate fruiting chamber away from the uncontaminated jars to avoid any cross contamination. Pls let him know thanks in advance!

No, there is no saving a contaminated grow. You can end up getting yourself or someone else seriously sick. If it contaminates, pitch it.

Mycelium will not defeat cobweb.  The longer you keep it around, the more susceptible it is to spread.

If things are in a jar and they are contaminated and there is a vermiculite barrier on top and all that , then there is hardly any way for that contamination to climb out of the jar , crawl into another jar an do more contaminating. It is just not in the cards , unless you open the jar and remove the vermiculite barrier , blow onto or otherwise get airflow onto the contamination to spread some spores throughout the room where the other jars might be. And , then the contaminate spores would have to be masterful to get inside another jar and through another vermiculite barrier to cause problems.
