Is it best to wait for warmer weather then or is there a way to send them safely? Without spending a small fortune on overnight shipping that is

How about a small cooler bag like you store sandwhiches in? They're pretty well insulated.

Best is subjective. Waiting until the weather is permitable is common practice when shipping live culture(s).

Hand warmers and good packaging. The warmers work slower with less oxygen available and don't get as hot. If you restrict them from air they last far longer than the 8-10 hours they say they do.
But its probably tricky making the balance just right.

TheBlackCat said: Hi there. Is the thing that says 1 M in this pic the particle size. I was told I need the particle size to be a minimum .22 m for a flow hood. Is that true? Also is penetration another way of saying particle size? Like would .006 penetration mean something like .6 microns?

The standard particle size they test with is 0.3 microns. Penetration is how many particles got through in their test.
.004 penetration means it is 99.996% effective at removing particles 0.3 microns in size.

Uggh. I'm going to have to make sense of this math when I'm less tired. I have no idea how to calculate if this is strong enough to create laminar flow. I think it's saying the blower does 388 CFM @ 100 FPM. But I did the MAth right I think and just doubled the equation, So I think this means it needs 400 CFM. Would something as small as 12 cfm too little matter? My brain hurts. I think I need to try this again tomorrow when I'm not as tired or have a friend help me do the math. It's frustrating because when I look at math it's very confusing compared to everything else. I have issues with the visual spatial aspects of math. My visual spacial skills and planning and organization skills are a mess. I can do basic math really well but when you start throwing in other concepts it gets really weird in my brain. It makes me feel kind of stupid.

Its math by 100s basically. And 12cfm isn't going to make or break you

Thanks Bod! I'm so upgrading this Friday. I'm getting a piece of junk counter top to replace the warped top of this old desk for easy wipe down. And presto! No more uncomfortable linen closet in the bathroom. Just wide open space. I already packed away a lot of my dust collectors to make more room for my projects at least till I move to a new place.

I think the trend is to go for a bit higher airflow.. I wouldn't advise being under powered. I don't like to work right up against the filter face all the time for many reasons.
If that unit has no plenum then you could get some pretty irregular flow.

Yes, bacterial cakes that are partially colonized get fruitied all the time, but that's not ideal. Only fruit partially colonized cakes if they are bacterial. Otherwise, be patient.

Stop using fancy words I have to look up. Lefty bought one and he says the overall flow is pretty good. If worse comes to worse I got some really nice fucking room scrubbers and I can set up a SAB in front of it. Anything has to be better than the setup I have now.
Also I can afford to swap one of the filters out on one of them to adjust it if need be. It's a standard 2x2 assembly. The price with shipping is a steal for two nice fan assemblies. I can modify it to have a plenum as well.
