Tinfoil hat

The economy is doing great rate now but I feel that we are just in a bubble.

Counting inflation our housing prices are beyond that of 2008

Jobs keep getting exported outside of the US.

Labor to Asia

Degrees to India and other tax havens.

We have been in a trade deficit since 1976.

Median new home sell price is 310k, existing home 249k

Federal Debt 20.6T
Total US debt 68.97T

I feel we are in a bubble that has been festering since the 90s. 2008 we just tossed a bandage on it to stop the bleeding. The bleeding has stopped but the bubble has gotten bigger.

Or are things find and dandy and everything good?

the economy looks ok on the surface. If you believe the official figures for inflation and unemployment that is. If you ask why the things you buy go up in price way more than the official rate, you get a bs answer. You may ask if unemployment is really that low why are wages stagnant and why is it so hard to get a decent job for most people?

The answer you get from the politicians is you must be mistaken, I'm doing fine. I got a funny answer from a hard line left wing kool aid drinker. He said the reason wages aren't going up is because people aren't joining unions. If they just did that, wages would go shooting up. But people say they tried to get into a union and were told there was a waiting list and it would be years before they could get in, if they ever did.

Union labor is more expensive and most employers will not use it. They bullied the govt into setting aside a lot of work just for unions or they would be in even worse shape. Some politicians got a nice payoff for that. But I'm told if they just had more unions all would be great.

“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship.” (attributed to Alexis de Tocqueville political philosopher Circa 1835)

Union workers make 15-30%  more than non Union workers. unions built the middle class and anyone who is concerned about stagnant wages should support employees who choose to fight together instead of fighting each other.

Yes it's more expensive because they have higher wages. Isn't that what you want?

It increase the prices of products which them them that much out of reach to poor people.

There are too many poor people in America to risk higher consumer product prices.

There you have it. Conservative economic theory 101: poor people cannot afford to make more money.

I'll reconsider. I have a love/hate relationship with unions.

Corporate unions:

-  if the company can easily afford it (Big corporations) I'm all for it.
- If it's a small corporation I'm against it.

Big corporations employ 1/3 of the population and small business represents 2/3. It unions were stronger they would get something out of the big corporations, unless they can just close a store and accept the loss because it's nothing to them. As for the small corporations, should their employees decide to create a union (some will), it can put the company on the path of bankruptcy.

Public unions:

- Should be illegal.

The public unions are bleeding countries around the world to death. Take the people in hostage and ask for higher pay for less work with more benefits and a guaranteed retirement. That way a harder working guy making less money than you and has no benefit or retirement savings has to pay part of your salary with his tax money.

I don't think any union should be illegal. The right to free assembly is as integral to democracy as free speech.

A company is going to look for the best profit margins regardless.

My local area has no unions at all. Only Federal labor law. You can get fired for no reason. No you have two weeks. It is your gone. I know a company that entire an entire shift because everything was being moved to Asia. They had no heads up. Showed up for work and were told they were all fired.

Biggest local company is a semiconductor company. They had their most profitable year to date this year. They are one of the top 3 semiconductor manufactures in the world.

They are moving all their manufacturing to Asia for cheaper labor.  Keeping R&D here due to risk of it being stolen in Asia.

In terms of pay we are overpaid compared to a lot of other countries... A majority of the rich do not give a shit about people blow them being middle class or lower class. Unless you can make them richer you are a nobody.

Trickle down does not work. This is what we are seeing with the new taxation. Also in about 8 years the lower and middle class will be paying more in tax compared to now with the current bill.

The richer get a lower tax taxation

Business get lower tax... Most corporations are not planning on bringing the savings down to the worker.

You to a less extacnt to more of the next generation will have to get use to having less.

---------
Also the twinki copperation shut down for a year or so due to unions. Labor costs were too high.
