No. The premature pinning is the myce attempting to propagate before impending death. Toss it. Use wide mouth jars; also.

Xerbia said: So this pint cake had green trich on it, but I forgot about it, and it kept colonizing. I looked at it today, and the myc grew over the trich, and actually started premature pinning. It's about 95% colonized now, but I'm wondering will this be okay to birth?
Here is a pic of it before, and today:

Other way around that's trich kicking ass and mycelium losing the battle
Also that jar is like 40% colonized. 20 by mold 20 by mycelium. Its no where near 95%
Not only is it not ok to birth at this point since you let the mold get so out of hand i would toss the entire jar rather than trying to clean it out.

It wont eat the trich. I left a jar with trich for 3 months just to see which would prevail, trich or mycellium. Well, the trich only got worse and mycellium stopped growing. So toss it.

2 more pins popped up on the cake today, and the other one is getting big. Weird the pins are still growing

Whys that weird? Its actually expected its a survival strategy lol. It's a sign there's a problem.
Trich is a parasite of cube mycelium. Trich feeds on other molds

I guess just weird to me since I thought they'd just die. Would it be real bad if I let this flush grow out in solitary and then toss it? Would it be dangerous to my health?

I once birthed a cake like this after the myc had 'grown over' all the trich. It even started out alright in the sgfc - pins everywhere. Some of them even started to grow, but then bam, overnight, the cake turned green and all the little shrooms turned black and gnarly. It was a mushroom wasteland. You will never win.

I ended up letting this colonize more, took it outside and cut out the trich. Put it in isolated tub with wet verm and the myc fully colonized over the spot I cut the trich out. Fruited a nice first flush, and dunked for another flush. Full of pins now and going strong for another flush

I was so excited over the first flush I didn't snag any pics, but here it is working on the second.

Yup, I didn't have any more perilite, so I'm using the verm as something to hold moisture, and it's working...
I'm sure the mushrooms are just screaming, "omfg he put us in verm, we better stop growing because that's against the mushroom growing 101 rules!!" Lol
