Finally a proper bulk grow in a shoe box using 50/50 horse manure compost/organic compost. Not quite a canopy, so I’ve got some more work with this species to find that “perfect” culture. But this clone is still pretty decent IMO. I slanted this one, as it is definitely worth saving:

A couple of larger specimens:

And final wet weight of the first flush:

I have really fallen in love with this species and I hope to see other cultivators growing out these guys soon. And I have to give the credit to whitethumb for the very kind gesture of free spores. Without those spores, I’m sure I never would have had the chance to work with these guys. Again, thanks, brother man.

Any thing I should know about getting this species spore to germinate. I have had them on a plate for 2+ weeks.

did you happen to slant a clone of a single fruit, or cluster?
or was the slant of an lc? Just wondering. like i say to the ladies at the bar, "nice stems ya got thare, eh?"

most of the time it works all the time.

Thanks all for the kind words.

No tricks needed IME for germination really. I just used standard PDA and saw germination on a average of 5 to 8 days. 2 weeks sounds like a while. Have they germinated yet?

I took about 10 or so clones, some from mature fruit and some agar pins. The best one, grown above, was one of the agar pins. I slanted it from agar.

No they never germinated, and I tossed it a couple days ago. I did only make one plate and the agar could have been to hard. I will try swiping again to some softer agar. I will get them at some point, I just didn't know if they germinated better at a certain temp range. Like how I got some of my wood lovers to germinate by putting them in a cold part of the basement.

Gotcha, that makes sense.

Mine were kept at normal room temps.

I’m sure you’ll get um to germinate. I look forward to your and everyone else who is growing out these guys.

Yes.  I’m a peat guy personally.  Just the way I learned and feel comfortable using as my casing material.

Beautiful 2nd flush pinning now (and a couple remnants from the first flush):

It’s looking to be a good 2nd flush so far. Got to love these little guys lol.

Excited to see this one in person! Thanks :peace:frog!

Curious if you measured a wet:dry ratio with that 150 wet from above...?

Damn, I didn’t weigh them after they dried actually. I just threw them into long term storage with the others in the same sealed bag. But from my experience with um, they are the same as most higher cultivated fungi, so most likely 13-15 grams. Doesn’t sound like much, but they are so potent, that’s a lot of doses IMO. I only tried them once so far and 1.5 dried grams sent me flying. Comparable to ~4 grams of cubes. But that’s just me, I might be a light weight lol. And I rarely ingest psilocybin these days.

Last update on this log (2nd flush):

I am done with this grow but definitely not finished working with this species. I tossed the sub this morning after harvesting the 2nd flush due to needing the room for other projects.

I thank all who have pulled up a chair for this grow log, and all the helpful, kind and knowledgeable comments made by others along the way. And I do hope other growers take a liking to this particular species and grow um!
