Analyse This! (w/ Eye Candy)

Okay, so, in going back and forth with BOD a bit on another thread, I discovered that I have no real idea how to discern whether a RB jar is going well, especially in the later stages of colonisation, and even more especially when it's a cube or something that doesn't produce stones.
So I'd like your analysis of another project I'm working on: 4 RB jars nearing full colonisation with GT and possibly God-knows-what contamination.
Here's a group shot:

And a detail of Jar 1:

Jar 2 detail:

Some Jar 3 shots:

Jar 4 details:

What do you think?

No obvious contam... I see some metabolites which isn't the best sign. If those jars don't fully colonize, toss them

For next time, don't load your rye berries into your jars until their dry to the touch. You either loaded them too wet, or some water got under your foil during the PC

Okay, I'll make sure to double check next time, CMD. Thanks for the input.
To sharpen my own eye, though, what gives you this impression? Is it the condensation on the glass? Isn't there always a bit of that because of the moisture WITHIN the grains in conjunction with the temperature differential between inside and outside the jar due to the metabolism of the myc?
I let this batch of RB dry for something like 6-8 hours after draining. Did RR's TP test and everything. So I'm thinking that, if you're right, it must be the water-getting-under-the-foil-option. Do you have any tricks for avoiding that?

Due to all the metabolites in every jar, and the condensation. There usually is a bit at the top of the jar but you seem to have quite an excess amount. If they were dry to the touch when loaded, I'd guess some water got under your foil. I use two big squares of foil and don't fill the water in the PC more than 2 inches, so it doesn't boil too high up the jars. Could also be signs that your jars are being stored in too warm of conditions

Speaking more so of the very last pic you posted on the bottom, looks like a lot of condensation down there

Ok sorry but those jars are toast. It's apparent by how thick the myc is, wetness of grains, the rust colors in the jar, etc. Best to start over

Yes.... I noticed the nasty looking rusty, redish colored bit too, and the myc looks thick and heavy

There are signs of contams I believe.... That purple colored stuff, what is that???

I believe the rust color he referred to was the yellow metabolites... But I could be wrong.

Yeah buddy..... I see the yellow, the metabolites, but I also see some purplish, redish colored spots or something which could definitely be contams..... Just judging by what I can tell though, but another member thought so too....?

Yea these symptoms usually mean bacteria.

Okay, that makes sense. The metabolites are definitely there. And I'll try the foil thing. Most of the ATL #7 jars that I did in the same batch turned out great. Perhaps that's down to latter's heartiness rather than to the lack of bacterial presence.
Conditions: Room temperature in the temperate winter okay?

Nothing to be sorry about. I've got lots of other grows going at the same time so I'm not attached to these jars in particular.
But I do want to get the diagnosis right. Not in the sense of knowing what kind of contamination might be present, but in the sense of knowing THAT contamination is definitely present and what the tell-tales are in this case. Because I'm much more interested in gaining informed experience than in the fruits of any one grow. Your response goes a long way in this direction.
Wetness of the grains makes sense.
Rust colour: I hear you. In fact, I once had jars fall to some type of rust-coloured contam. Here's a picture of that:

However, I looked at what appears to be the worst offending jar on this count in the present grow (Jar 2) and the actual grains in that rust-coloured spot look very much like some of the grains in a jar I just inoculated the other day (without the accompanying wetness). So it might be at least partially due to the colour of the specific RBs I'm using here. I have another brand that are lighter and less red, comparing package of raw RBs to package of raw RBs.
How thick the myc is: Interesting. Can you explain this point a bit? What areas does it look too thick in? And what should it look like instead? And why is thick a bad thing (which kinda strikes me as counterintuitive)? Is the idea that if it's thick, it's because it HAS to be in order to fight off something sinister?
