Nocced Rye bags - where do you store them?

I've been struggling with my 4 quart rye bags getting a dry top surface and the grains touching the bag too wet. I think its because the bags have the wrong environment as they grow out to be fully colonized.
I have them in a closet along with the rest of my monotubs. That means whenever I open the door, there is a temperature change (not much) and that they are subjected to a small amount of the fans draft.
Where do you place your bags? I'd like to reduce my condensation. (I feel that some condensation is ok)
Thanks!

I keep them high up, on top of a closet. its 0.555F/0.7c higher in temperature compared to a table height. It sounds like not much of a difference but it is a lot I think. Maybe your fans are drying them out?

I recently tried some grain bags, I usually use jars, I found a small temperature change really effects the bags. I too didn't like the amount of condensation. I just moved them to a shelf in my closet. It's about 21 degrees and it does the trick now.
If you maintain a good room temperature, through my experience, it always leads to good colonization (sterile technique considered).
Also, I've seen a good point made that although your temperature outside the bag is great, the inside will experience a higher temperature (obviously makes sense just never considered it). Always better to be on the lower end of the spectrum I find.

I just noc'd up 6 one pound rye berry bags and it's been 11 days and I'm at 50% colonization with 3 different MS species.

On further thought, I bet any air movement promotes condensation, as it would strip away any buffering still air that could insulate the bags, as the bags are slightly warm. To go further... having them together, in say, a tub, might make them even more stable in temperature, and less prone to condensation.
I'm almost sure This is an issue with my bags because I am getting confident with my grain prep. Perfect looking grains... wet grains next to the plastic after a week or so... and top surface grains getting too dry to colonize.

I think you are right. Next time you could always try keeping them in two different places to see what the difference is...

I don't use bags. But I keep jars in a cool place, that gets 12/12 light, I see a lot slower colonization time with cooler temps but my contam rate has plummeted to non existent

I think 60-65 degrees is perfect. I read somewhere not much difference between 69 and 75, and anything over 75 is asking for contams

I colonize at 75-80 and have full colonization in 2 weeks or less from MS and 5he only time I'll get contams is if I fucked up moisture content or didn't pc/inoc sterile.

Nah, the air movement is drying the grains as mentioned above. Temperature swings are what causes condensation. Bags/larger substrates produce a lot more heat than jars/smaller substrates, so are a little more touchy when it comes to condensation. A fix for condensation is to try to keep the the area where the bags are colonizing in at a constant temperature (65-72F).
