Does anyone know the scientific term for a flower that only stays open for one day and then dies and falls off, like morning glory? I can't find the term anywhere. I figured somebody around here would know! Thanks in advance for any help.

morning glories will open again after they've closed at night. They open atleast 2 - 3 times before dying.

Not always. It depends on how hot and sunny it is. Or at least that was my experience with H.B.'s

well its not some hocus pocus really, the reason some only flowers for a few hours or a day the max is to save energy first of all, producin flowers requires the plant to use energy, sugar and water and its also for protection from weather and animals, insects and stuff. it has its advantages for the flower to do this, on the negative note the amount of plants that get pollen during that time is smaller but they have developed the fastest sex act in the plant kingdom but still low.

The Dolphins of the plant kingdom. I wonder if their orgasims last as long.
