jooooo! first i'll shoot out best greets to everyone on the shroomery who helped getting things as far as they are now. so here my procedure howi did it, any comments, and input are very welcome sterilised some verm for the ground and the casing soil mix: ready to crumble, notice the casing down there with the sub layer of verm and some casing soil on it already: falupp, all the hard work sliding down: *crumble crumble crumble*: ? casing being filled with the crumbled grain and some soilmix on top: finally foil it up: and now,. lets wait. it went back to the incubator where i will let it be till i see the soil getting colonised. gimme your suggestions! boom shivaya! ohm ---update--- jo there! so this little b aby from above has been in the incubator for another three days, to let the top soil colonise. well here are the pics, enjoy: after day 1: after day 2: after day 3: so on day three it went to the fruiting chamber since i decided there was already enaugh colonisation, am/was i right with that thought? feed me some comments dudes, i am drooolingly happy so far since it is all white and smelling juuuuuuummy peace ohm ----update----- check out my post down the thread peace ohm ----update----- heeey so i dig this old thread up again to show the omc what is happening here. so, as u saw from the aboce pics, overlay was quite bad, so i decided to put both casings in the fridge for like 15 hours, then i deep scratched them and applied another casing layer of coco/verm onto them. then they were re-incubated for 3 days and then put into fruiting. sooo, finally, after 8 days they showed knots, soon after pins and this is how things are looking atm. so far i am pretty happy about what is developing on my casing, what do u guys think about it? hope for some good input! peace ohm ----update---- heeey so another update, i dont know how it made it this far from yesterday but hell it sure did it ! sadly, as u can see, i think this mush got deformation somehow, it does look strange to me. also, i will just harvest this shroom (the one right to it is attatched to its base sadly) and let the other grow, u think that will be fine? keeping u updated peace ohm ----update---- so the biggie in the first one had to be picked, i didnt want to mess up with potency so i decided to harvest it, even though i wanted to print it initially. here it is: how'r things looking? peace ohm -------final update-------- as u maybe guessed i already harvested, so here some pics on how things developed in the end some days prior to harvest: harvest day: i have no idea on how much they weighted, but 4 grams fresh fungus did do some incredible mindwork on me. remeber this was a nebies very first grow, and it seems as i succeeded quite well i wish u a great day peace ohm

looks pretty good man, make sure you got extra casing mix so you can patch the first signs of mycelium for a more even pinset, you'll get wayyy more fruits.
incase ya didnt know :P patching is worth the extra wait.

i find it better to just use a clean knife and push the casing material around the surface from the uncolonised areas to the places that have broken thru,i find that it gives me a more even pinset quicker.

Looks good, but, your grains were not completely colonized. I hope things work out okay!!

yup, i do that too, sept i use my finger :P its sterile, i wipe my hands down with alcohol first of course. good insight hanky
i mainly wanted to see him get the most out of his casing and not get overlay, hate to see that, ya know

today i got my first signs of breakthrough on that casing, its in 4 spots and i rolled some casing material over them with a sterile scalpell.
it turns out to be quite hard, since i dont want to squish the fluffy mycelium ?with the casing layer.
it turned out that i will have way to little extra material to patch it all, so i am thinking about making abother casing mix.
will the differences etween the two casing substrates (will use same stuff but the ratio of mixture can never be 1:1) irritate the myc? like getting it ocnfused why there is some other substrate suddenly?

"like getting it ocnfused" Damn,I didn't know mycelium had a brain!! That rocks, dude, maybe now I can train it to jump up and grow fast and big.

it doesnt matter at all. just make sure the layer you put over the first growth is a thin layer.
you could case with straight vermiculite, then patch with coir, it would not make a difference, IMO. would be retarded to do, but just proving my point that no the mycelium wont get confused, hahah, first time i ever heard that i think, its all good man, your grow should turn out rewarding for ya.
just do not let the mycelium grow through thick, it must only be PEAKING through the casing surface.....do this and your pinset will be so fucking good(almost guaranteed)

Damn son how thick is your casing layer...You need to smooth out the top layer better the next time so it will be abel to pin evenly... Hope it turns out good

so on day three it went to the fruiting chamber since i decided there was already enaugh colonisation, am/was i right with that thought?
some spots do look thick, hopefully not overlaid or get overlaid, you should be fine...i cant really tell by the pic. Looks like some nice rizo growth in some areas though, should turn out awesome man.

Good luck, and thanks for making this post.
I got a better idea of casing n such.

hey i feel great about having been able to help out someone, what better happen to some1.
well i got a question to the community now too, those casings have been in the fruiter now for 2 days and well, i noticed they'r still colonising the casing layer but it's incredibly slow.
also,i had rhizos poking through the surface like everywhere and now, they are starting to get fluffy like, losing their string like form.
the fruiter is being kept between 22.5 and 23.5 C, so it should be fine for them.
i read about in the forum, that pin formation can take up to 10 days and i am just worrying a litte (as prolly every newbie does/did) so here is how them 2 casings look like atm and i'd be happy with some input about it.
peace ohm

they look good to me, maybe a lil thick. you might wanna try misting the casing next time it will slow down colonization which you don't really want at that point and also help to induce pinning. IME you should only mist until first signs of primordia tho. you CAN mist pins but don't overdo it they WILL abort if you mist too heavily
