I'm currently 1 week into my first sclerotia grow (first time growing anything really) and am wondering if my mycellum is growing slower than normal? . order from left to right: Tampanensis, Mexicana Jalisco, Galindoi, Tampanensis

I currently have 20 jars going 5 tampanensis 5 Jalisco and 10 Galindoi. Sorry about the clutter I have to hide in plain sight due to family being here for the holidays.

I’m no pro but your rate of growth seems just fine, especially if from syringes.

Thank you, Izanagi. I guess I'm just anxious. I literally sit and watch them grow.

I've got 6 Tampanensis from tic tac toe agar drop that were noc'd 12/1 and are doing fantastic but even these were slower compared to the cubensis martinique I had colonizing at the same time.
And I've got 3 more noc'd with only 2cc /= and they look like yours. It's def a lot slower.

Is 2 cc about the normal amount for MS sclerotia cultivation? I just got a Galindoi syringe and I was planning on innoculating with about 1 cc per quart jar. Sorry to piggy back off your post!

1cc is WAY TOO MUCH spore solution If you must inoculate with spore solution then try 2 DROPS of solution per jar

I made 13 transfers on agar from a print. I've only used spore solution on grain in small 1/4 pint jars to germinate stubborn spores before going to agar. Spore solution is too dirty to use more than just a few drops. Here's the 3 I mentioned earlier noc'd up with LC made with an agar wedge 11 days ago (12/12)

OP, I assume since you've started you've done some reasearch, as have I, but I still can't find any info on shaking the 20% colonized grain or not. In the quarter pint I mentioned above I got the grain mostly colonized and shook it but it never recovered. Do you or anyone else here know if it should be left alone to colonize or should be shaken. Also, seems we've got a couple people working on sclerotia at the same time. Whats say we make this an official thread where we share our knowledge and experience and grow together, not unlike the PE grow along thread. All in favor?

I always shake my jars after a few days but I also never grow sclerotia. I assume since the mycelium doesn’t start forming the stones until much later that shaking you jar now would still be a good idea to speed up colonization. And there is already official stone growers threads by the way.

Yes shake at 30% to speed colonization Stones wont form until the myc has completely colonized the grain.
You said you inoculated with LC? Those jars look like they may as well have been noced with an agar wedge

The 2 pics in my first post were done with agar and as you can see there are stones forming and its only like 85% the other 2 in my last post were done with LC. Those I'm planning to fruit. I see the threads, idk how I missed those before. I'd still like to see the progress of the few here since we're all at about the same spot.

Oh shit look at that! I had no idea they would start forming before full colonization... I've only ever had them start forming well after full colonization.|I hope that doesn't mean there is a contaminate present?

I hope not! I can't find the thread I saw where it said that could happen with agar and ms but not lc. Those 2 jars were inoculated with 2 seperate agar plates. I have 6, all from seperate plates. You've got me questioning them now and I've never grown, eaten, or even seen stones before. Aside from pics on the internet.
If they're clean then this is tampanensis at day 23. If not then to others who see this, here's what it looks like when things start off white.

Ask in the official sclerotia stone producer thread. Lots of folks in there very experienced with sclerotia species. You're lucky my tamps have been colonized for 3 months now with only a single stone to show for it
My gandoli on the other hand have been producing stones like crazy
