Stealth or not-clear monotub?

Hey guys,
I'm planning on spawning BRF to coir/verm in a monotub. I'd like to use one that isn't clear; I'm having trouble finding a tek for this. all the monotub teks I've found use clear or transparent tubs, except this one using LED christmas lights: http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/13848326
I don't think the LED lights will provide the optimum light; is there another guide out there on how I can rig a light inside a monotube that isn't see-through? What's the best way to go about a stealth/non-clear monotub?
I had a very successful PF Tek grow last year, thanks to this forum I tried to do a monotub but it contaminated and I lost interest. I'm hoping this time around I'll have better luck.

Haha no worries it's not a question of mom/dad/roommates finding out. Moreso for any visiting maintenance men/landlord dropping in unexpectedly.
[EDIT] Also - does anyone know why Pyropuppy did his holes like that? Do you guys think that's any better/worse than the normal 6 holes?

Ah a renter. That blows man. I don't see why a little string of led lights inside an opaque tub wouldn't work

There's nothing stealth about a monotub with bigass holes stuffed with polyfill, whether the tub is clear or not...

Yeah and my landlord is a real B. I just want to make sure if I'm away and she happens to drop by I have nothing to worry about.
And you think that'll provide enough light? Surely it can't compare to ambient light, but do you think my mushies will have max/comparable yield under LED christmas lights?

they make full spectrum LED grow lights for plants, theres no reasons some LEDs wouldn't work. Some may work better than others. But they will fruit without light. It just helps.

Still curious about whether this worked. I ended up buying black tubs and was thinking of returning for clear ones, its just they only had black in the size I wanted unfortunately. Is it viable to do monotub in a black tub. Im pretty new, do monotubs usually get light through the clear tub or from the top of the tub. If its through the clear part of the tub ill probably just end up returning them instead of going through the hassle of rigging something to make it work.
If its through the top regardless than I dont really see a difference and could probably rig some LED christmas lights or something, if thats not optimal though then its an easy return for me and ill just get something slightly smaller.
Also its kind of a see through black not a solid black, I dont think that matters though as it would still have trouble getting light through the sides i presume.

If you have to worry about the property owner entering your house while you're away, then your problem is that you need a new place; that's illegal where i'm from. I certainly wouldn't put up with it. I don't give a fuck who you are; you don't get to creep into my house while i'm gone

If they give you 48hrs notice its allowed (here in the UK at least), ive had it before when ive been away and got notified they were coming in a few days...had to get a friend to go move my shit - lucky they had my spare keys.

You could always use bod's unmodified tubs. I wrote this then saw you're doing PF tek, but I'll leave everything. Not sure unmodified will work for them but there was this thread not too long ago....
https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/23091666
If not....
Assuming you're in the US, they are legally obligated to give your 24 hours notice before entering(without you present) unless there's an emergency such as fire or major water leak.
Barring catastrophe, you'll have plenty of time to put under a bed, buried in a closet, etc Although, I doubt people would be worried about what ya got in storage tote when there's a raging fire. I don't think 24 hours will kill your grow, and it would probably be less time than that.
Either way, they shouldn't be coming into your house. If they are, put the kabosh on that shit and then carry on!

If your brand new to this hobby, run "shoeboxes" instead of mono tubs to start out. If you have never grown before, your likely to fuck up a few times. The shoeboxes only need 1-2Qts each, they are easy to hide, and you wont have "all your eggs in one basket". You can also get them in biger sizes while still being shallow and easy to hide under beds and such.

What I've done in a renting situation was just grow in a closet (a coat closet that was by my front door) and just replaced the door knob with one that locked. I'd leave it open when I was home and locked up when I was gone. You'll need a source of power, like a light socket, of course. Had many successful grows in that closet.
