I would like to pick your brain.4
1. Is gypsum beneficial to a PF TEK grow?
2. Is the massive pinset due to watering only?
3. What type flour did you use, BRF?
4. What size are those cakes? What container did you use?
Anyways fantastic results, you are a really good cake grower. ME: Most of what Ididi did it for the pictures, as an artistic expression. BUt I have some cakes up there that can compete with yours still, heheh. Thanks for a fantastic post!

Im not sure where you got your info but all the searching I've done come to side pinning not being from contam. Actually plenty of post says the tub should show pins on side before top unless you have perfect surface conditions. The top of all 4 tubs have knotts everywhere now and I don't know the word of the top of my head(smoked a bowl or 4) but like primeida or something like that. This is the only tub of 4 that shows pins on side. I'm stoked either way since it's at least working. But I read the plastic gives it perfect conditions so that's why it pinned there.

Side pins are most often caused by a microclimate caused from space between your sub and liner/tub. You're less likely to have side pins, from what I've read, with the liner because it stays snug with the sub as it shrinks during colonization. A properly dialed in tub shouldn't have side pins, so work on that. Since this is your first successful grow I wouldn't worry about side pins, as long as you don't get any mold you're fine. Good luck

My info come from bacterial grows. Bacterial grows do anything and everything to get fruits out to complete life cycle. I get knots on my sides but no pins, well now I do. I get good results to. I have seen plenty of trich tubs put out a fuck ton of side pins just before trich appears.
@Cakewonder
1. There is no real proof it benefits any grow, just as no proof it doesn't. 2. The massive pin set if from me caring for my cakes and misting enough. 3. I don't fuck with flour. Years ago when I started growing I could not find BRF. So I just hydrated brown rice and used it. Some times I even use oats. ***TO USE WHOLE GRAINS A PRESSURE COOKER IS A MUST!!! That being said BRF cakes have enough nutrition to put out the same. It is largely due to a good roll in vermiculite and proper care. Coarse vermiculite doesn't stick so well, fine does. I have also done a 2nd roll the day after if it didn't stick well. I just misted heavy and rolled again. 4. I use wide mouth full pint jars. PC required or LONG ass steam, say 4 hours. I end up filling my jars about 3/4 full. Hell I have 40 almost done consolidating now, lol.
There is SOME info about my way of doing cakes in journal.

EDIT
Not going to lie, I did NOT eat the fruit that the clone came from. What I can say is I took 3 clones from the OG ms tray and all 3 were some of the heaviest bluing I have had. That's no guarantee that it will be boomers, but I am confident they are average+ in strength. My friends consumed the MS grow an it rocked all their worlds. Once again no guarantee that they are top notch, but I am fairly sure they are not bunk. I mean the fruits that the clones came from, were oozing blue juice as I was taking the clone. I have only seen that a couple times ever.
Yup. Sounds rad. I didn't mean my post to be negative, it was meant to be informative regarding how much genetics are dispersed in MS, even with anastomosis occurring. And of course I misread while tired. Cloning is awesome. I'm about to clone everything from now on.

My first big tub, can't wait to see the WW on the first flush. The spot to the very right and a little above center that has no myc on it concerned me a little though after close investigation it looks to just be a really wet spot. I have no clue why its so wet but I'll hold a misting for a few sessions.

I've only got a blender from the 80's man. It would not be compatible with jars when I move on to that.

So spend $20 to buy a brand new Oster. Or setup a Craigslist alert for supplies. Lots of people are selling brand new blenders for $10 in my area.
