I have been trying to read up on this at erowid but the information I have been getting is mixed. Some sections say that it gives you a very pleasant high and is very enjoyabel, much more pleasant then eating them.. and other things i read say that it will not do anything to you and it can cause lung infections. I am just curious if someone out there has tried this and could clear it up for me, it would be much appreciated!

When i had my amanitas, i smoked a couple of bowls and felt nothing. It also taste like complete shit when you smoke it  Peace

You do not deserve to be called a fool at all.
The SKIN on top of the cap (the red part) is active when smoked. The stems are too but to a much lesser degree. extracts are best for smoking

really, that is interesting. Do you know where i could find some more information on this? i just like to read up on these things if i am considering on doing it next season. Thanks alot for the reply Organic!

you would probably have better luck in the Ethnobotanical Garden, or entheogen related sites like
www.entheogen.com
www.shaman-australis.com
www.spiritplants.com
& various other entheogen sites. Mostly I've read first hand accounts from posters on those boards and they have reported activity in the skins akin to a light cannabis buzz with slight delerium. I've smoked the skin with some cap and definetly felt a delerious effect similar to a small dose of dramamine. the smoke isn't too harsh either in my opinion, tastes pretty good. good luck

IT will be a little wile before i got to try this since it is the wrong part of the season for the muscaria in my area. but when i do try it I will make sure to post my results on this!

Yes i did run the experiment on some mushrooms i found this winter while taking a walk in a forest.
I dried the red skin, broken it up to a powder, mixed it with a very small amount of hash (just enough to mask the flavour/smell) and smoked it.
It did in fact have some activity. Very different than the hash alone, but nothing overwhelming or anything. Just a mild not unpleasant head high along with minor sedation. Maybe the dose was too low.
Friends noticed this mild high too.
I won't look for them specifically next winter or buy any. However if i stumble across some accidentally like i did last winter, i'll be glad to repeat the experience.

so you feel it does have effects also, i will defintley need to ry this nexy time they are poping up around my way!
It is kind of funny that i looked for this mushroom for two years all around my area and could never find them, then last fall i was have a little tripping walk through the woods that are like to blocks from my house down by the river I always use to play at when i was i little kid and found hundred upon hundreds of these amnita muscaria, it was a really cool expireence finding these while i was on my fun nature walk!!!!
One more question for you.
When you are using the skin is it easy to peel the skin off when the caps are dry or should i try to peel off the skin when they are fresh and dry it sepretley?
Is there any difference between potency in the red and the yellow to orangish caps?(i am thinking there is not, and i know the potency can change depending on what time of the year you pick them)
