First Mono grow log!

Hello friends!
So this is my first mono and i made grow log because im sure i will have questions on my way.
First concerne i have is, is this BRF cakes chuncks too big? Ive really tried to break them but they are tough! i have about 8 spawn jars in there, and added casing layer on top.
Other question i have is, Whats the colonizing conditions? Ive covered the tub with black bag so no light emmits. What about temperature?
Cheers friends.

I break mine up with a cheese grater and get ful colonization of bulk substrate in a few days, yours will take a week or two to colonize the bulk substrate since your inoculation points are more sporadic. How many qt coir did you mix with the 8 BRF cakes?

Leave the substrate out of the bag. Light is beneficial for spawn run. Also, placing substrates in bags during spawn run restricts gas exchange.

Its so odd how many different informations u can read on forum. So guy who has lets say 5000 posts and wrote whole TEK writes that its beneficial to put it in a bag to keep it from light and FAE and the truth is completely different... I mean i believe u, u have 17K posts so.
ALSO... can the MONO in colonization be exposed to 12 12 6500 bulb? Because i have cakes in shotgun that needs 12 12 in the same room

Forget about post count or how long they´ve been members, you just proved why it dfoesn´t matter. It´s better to check the dates on the threads. Information like that happens to this day as well, you just have to learn what´s outdated and what´s been proven time after time.

Hello friends
So ive also added cake to my Shotgun... Some of them not 100 colonized but cakes are not that important my MONO is.
They are turning blue and looking kinda weak... I did dunk them but did not roll them because i didnt have any verm left... What do u think?
It smells kinda odd... maybe i should have baked perlite to sterilize it a bit? And the temp is this way only temporary in a day

well there's some pretty funky colours in those cakes... what's the smell like? sweet? is it off the cakes or from the perlite?
I'd say look at a few threads to find good pictures of trich and other contams, and if you spot any of them, chuck the cake out
otherwise, just watch and learn good luck!

The ones with the blue looks more like mold than bruising to me. Especially this early on the cakes should look nearly pure white.

It should be completely white in 4 days if you crumble the cakes effectively, it will be challenging for the culture to colonize the entire substrate when the inoculation ploints are so sporadic.

sorry if you want this all for a certain time, I know how frustrating that is.
I cant' really offer anything other than "wait and see" I don't think that taking it apart will speed things up much, but I cant' be sure
good luck!

I mean it was regular glass jur and ive cutted it with glass cutter under the neck so my cakes can come out... now i have these without neck and lid... so i may use foil... i put a circle of foil instead of lid and plastic bands also.

Just be patient and go start the process over again with something else.
Once I start obsessing over a grow I start another one and keep the rotation going. Soon enough you will be swimming in mono tubs and could fucking care less if some work and some don't because you have a factory of 5-10 right behind the current one.

I think you should simply wait to see if it will work. Never a bad idea to get more jars going - I'd say tap into some agar work to cut down the colonization times for said jars.
