An interesting fact
    #2479230 - 03/27/04 08:50 PM (20 years, 5 days ago)

All males will die out.  I read it in some magazine.  Its due to the fact that woman come from xx chromosomes and men come from xy chromosomes... or something like that, I dont remember correctly, the point is earth will be left with only females in the end

If males were to die out, it wouldn't have anything to do with sex chromosomes. Whether or not an egg is fertilzed with a sperm with a x or y sex chromosome is completly random and arbutrary. The only way I could see this happening and it involving a sex chromosome is if everybody started to inbreed and the y chromosome developed a terminal mutation. And if this hypothetical situation did occur, it wouldn't be just a sex biased instinction, the mutation would have a dramitic effect on both sexes.

I would love to read the magazine article you read that stated such an absurd claim.

Well its in norwegian... It was some sort of national graphic type magazine which only state well myabe not 100% true facts, but well studied theories. It was something about the chance of two x chromosones binding than an x and a y was more probable, therefor there will be no men left on the planet in the future...

This is in no way a fact...facts can be proven.

if in fact this were true (which it is not) then the women would die one generation after us so what's the big deal? :smirk:

No, that is fiction.

These are facts:

The term "The whole 9 yards" comes from WWII when the planes ammunition strips were 27 feet long.. thus when fighter pilots were told to unload all their ammo.. they would say give them the whole 9 yards.

It's just overflow from the woman's rights movement methinks.
It's turned into reverse sexism now. They don't want to be equal anymore, they want to be better. Not all...but a lot.
And how the fuck do you define "strongest" sex anyway? Both sexes have their different attributes and pros and cons. We are not equal, we are different.
Anyway if you were to take it literally, males are the "stronger" sex. physically speaking. That's why we die earlier, cause we do most of the physical work.

Actually, the entire dying out situation was addressed by a science-fiction author whose name skips my mind right now...
Basically, all the dudes died, but the chickies varieated into 3 subclasses thru genetic modification.
Could be done, so they wouldn't NECESSARILY have to die out.
Probably would tho.

FilthySock - do you have a copy of the article, or a link to it online? Was it in Illustrated Vennskap? I'd like to check that out...

I think that refferrs more to the fact that women are actually 'better' built physiologically...like they have a whole lot more connections in their brains (hence the tendancy to be more emotional) and if I remember correctly they also have better immune systems and like a more efficent lymphatic system or some shit

I can't remember exactly all the different things about women's bodies that make em better 'wired' then men's...but if I can dig up an article on it I'll make sure to post a link

Where did all this come from? We don't want to be better. We want to be equal. We want to be paid the same amount for the same job. We want the right to walk down the street without fear for our lives/safety. We want our daughters to grow up believing they can be anything they want and not eventually hit a glass celing. We want to be taken seriously and respected for our brains and our ablilities....not how big our tits are/ how skinny our waist is. I think that most men have the wrong idea about feminism....even a lot of women don't understand what it is about. There are several different types of feminists...the ones that want power are called "Radical feminists". They constitute a very small minority of the movement, however, they are the most outspoken group. I do not agree with most of their ideas. Most feminists are simply looking for social change...and feminism is not just about women's rights but human rights. Most feminist organizations are very active politically in several areas. We are looking to end the war, promote a healthier enviroment for children, make the world a friendlier place for ALL people, etc. We are certainly not out to take over or try to gain power over men. We just want our voices heard. We want to hold equal weight in society. I agree that the sexes are not the same...men and women are very different both physically and emotionally, however, where men are weak, we are strong and where we are weak, men are strong. If we worked together, the world would be a far more peaceful place. Both sexes have equal value and ability and what most feminists are looking for is a recognition of that.

Didn't they figure out that if all the men died off, nobody would be able to reproduce? Unless you're talking about artifical insemination, which would raise the vaule of sperm incrediablly high.

Hmm.... interesting... I'd better start saving my sperm in a jar, I WOULD BE EXTREMELY RICH! MWHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
