Psychedelics and vegetarianism/veganism - Did psychedelics affect your diet?

Greetings shroomeries,
I became vegan after tripping a lot and I was wondering how common a change of diet is amongst psychedelic users. Please do not discuss whether eating meat is bad for the planet or vegan diet results in deficiency syndrome.
I'm also interested in answers that elaborate how you think psychedelics affected your dietary decisions. Have your thoughts and opinions changed on meat or other animal products? Or did you receive psychosomatic symptoms after eating animal products? Or maybe you have seen visions that resulted in behaviour changes? Was it a slow change or did it go "BOOM" - vegetarian/vegan/eating meat? Was it a moral/rational decision or was it something more diffuse or a feeling from the gut? Maybe you started to notice health related symptoms that you connected to your diet?
Thanks for your contribution :-)

I too have been interested in seeing the results of a poll like this, it just needs more votes!

good poll. I started eating way less meat ever since I started my psychedelic experiences. even hunting mushrooms/ edibles experiences. you can see how there is really no need to be killing animals for food. its all right in front of us if wed take the time to go look for stuff/ started cultivating stuff on our own.. but that's not easy, for most people unfortunately. ill go days without eating meat. then days I might eat meat only once a day.. its hard but hopefully one day ill just be totally disgusted by meat. I'm almost there. it was hard going back to the veiny grisly chicken when you can eat chicken of the woods and others when there around..

I personally don't not think we should be eating meat 3 times a day.just me though. moderation never hurts

I honestly don't know what we should or shouldn't do. It's just... eating meat doesn't feel right anymore.

It's really easy live a vegan lifestyle once you got into the habit. For me it has been easier as time progresses. Veganism was the logical choice from my views: if I see the immense value in life and the interconnectedness between all beings then I should seek to minimize my harm of living beings and become a guardian of life rather than a destroyer of life.

Yeah, to me it was the next logical step after becoming vegetarian as well. Though I think it is kind of difficut being vegan in the regard that I always have to think ahead what and how much I need to cook as it is basically impossible to find vegan meals at snack bars, etc. Also I really miss pizza.

I make great vegan pizza! It definitely satisfies the moments where you just want to eat loads of pizza. Family, friends + dog also like it. Eating out is probably the hardest where some places can sometimes be rather poorly accommodating to vegans. Cooking gets really easy when you have a bank of reliable things you know how to make.

Yeah, cooking is no problem for me. But it is for other people that don't live vegan. They don't know what else to use but animal products. And exactly that makes it a bit difficult for me. Not that I find myself tempted to actually eating animal products though I crave pizza, but I feel like it is kind of a hassle for other people to cook for me and I don't like that.
I think next week I'll make myself some pizza. It's like 4 months since I last ate pizza and I badly need one. Damn, pizza is so awesome. And yeah, I'm pretty fucking high right now

I have been vegan ever since I ate a quarter sheet of LSD several years ago.
I was a struggling vegetarian before the experience but after tripping that hard I could never look at meat without thinking of dead bodies or cheese or milk without thinking about crusty, bleeding cattle nipples leaking pus everywhere.

I'm super excited to see that psychedelics have helped some other Shroomerites see the light. We're gonna live a long time, guys!
The animals, the planet, and mother nature all thank you for what you do.

I don't think so much about dead bodies or some other nasty stuff but rather about how I taught myself to value life with the help of psychedelics. I don't want any insect or animal to be killed though I accept when it happens.
I can look at pieces of meat and I am not totally grossed out, though seeing a dead hanging pig ready to be dissected probably would, but it makes me kind of sad or feel compasion with that animal that it once was, grown up in captivity just to be slain. I don't want the same to happen to me and by trying to avoid such a fate for another animal, maybe I'm just trying to fool myself into the illusion that I'm not awaiting the same fate. Living in captivity and then getting slain by the universe. Some more years to live would be great but at least I would like to die while I sleep and not be executed like some "food" animal. Or maybe dying while I'm tripping out so hard that I don't realise I am actually in the process of dying and then just get shut off suddenly would be okay as well I guess.
