Beautiful, elpico! What is spore production like? The gills look quite light.

Thanks, friends. Wavyedge, they seem to be dropping spores pretty well.

Psilocybe Caerulescens SC day 38 Fully colonized. Going to give it another week or so to consolidate then I think I'll try and top fruit.

I hope this thread keeps rockin'
It should keep rockin' cause looking at caerulescens never gets old. Are these E2 line?

Whelp only four months to go now (It's unfiltered, poorly ground brf agar btw. I'm very, very lazy at making agar obviously...). I actually got a wedge donated in a lovely turn of events relative to getting this swab and it was the only wedge of the lot I dropped on my SAB floor during transfer - and it's ironically the one showing the best, clear recovery thus far. Bacteria tek lol. Caerulescens must be hardy bois.

Nah, depending on your genetics they can be about the same timeline as cubes, and yeah they're pretty resilient.

Not as pristine as elpico but second flush on the SC are coming in pretty good. Definitely seem shorter in stature and opening caps a tad sooner on the larger ones but shaping up to be another nice haul!

Definitely feel as though I got the feel for what environment they like after abusing them and aborting the late bloomers from first flush, but bringing things back a bit got em moving again.
Hopefully a few more print candidates too

Another very impressive pinset there, kirkeng! @Rumblestrip, I don't believe I have the E2 line. This print came directly from a GA hunter. It's performed really well, but it needs some work. Other cultures from the same line have given larger fruits, but this particular dish pin clone has fruited as quickly as 13 days after casing.

That wedge was first to show recovery despite being the one I dropped in my SAB lol. I'm on T2 of both as of now Gonna T2 > LC if these look clean enough.

Thank you, unfortunately I still haven’t had the time to set aside for them just yet. Planning to get a day with them come January though! I thought about just having a nibble but decided against it in favor of really taking the time for it and make it count.

Howdy friends! I received 2 swabs of North Carolina lineage, Christmas Eve. (Thanks Kirkeng!) Used one of them, that looked less spore covered, on 12/3023… streaked 9 plates, since I didn’t think that the swab would really be usable, after getting agar on it and sitting, for any length of time…
This is today #1

Going to make some transfers tonight, should I have done so already? I always have waited until the individual discrete colonies met so that they could mate forming fruiting strains, but I’m guessing that is likely occurring by the time the individual colonies are visible to the naked eye, correct? Any advice on what I should select? I am giving a couple of plates away, so that some friends can put in some work with these guys too, since I have more strains than I will be able to play with.

Looking good mate! They are South Carolina not North Carolina though! Otherwise I think your on the right track, grain of salt as I’m not very experienced with them…
I would personally be fine taking selections from anywhere it all looks good and usable to me. I usually let my germ plates grow out a tad more though but where you’re at is fine too I think.
Good luck mate!

Last night: #1
#2
#3

#5

#7
#8 Has a couple of bacterial blooms on it, the ninth which I never took any pictures of, had several around the edges, strange that both were very shallow agar, so shallow that they tore while I was streaking them. Also they were not actually the 8th and 9th that I streaked, but actually 5th and 6th, none of the later ones show any apparent bacterial contamination.
I have not yet gotten around to doing any transfers. I have always waited longer before transferring, because I figured wait for the mycelia to meet and mate, but was reading up on Panaeolus threads, the other night, and people were talking about taking transfers while they were still discrete colonies, so I am a bit confused now. Like are the discrete colonies each the result of multiple spores germinating and mating? Is it just a Panaeolus thing?
