Cakes are blueish black on the edges?
    #2472495 - 03/25/04 09:04 AM (20 years, 8 days ago)

DOesent look like a contam, but its on the bottom, a blue black color thats growing. ITs not fuzzy or anything, and Im hoping its just a bruise, but also the mushrooms comming up now have a dark circle around the outside of the cap.

This sound like anything to you?

Probably just bruising. Watch out those Rh levels.

this is happening to my friend also, when you say watch out those Rh levels, does this happen when there is too much humidity or too less?

It can happen both ways, although afaik it happens more often with low Rh but waterlogged cakes can also easily bruise.

ill back that statement
the dog has seen it happen recently, in his case, probably too much rh.
cakes and casings in pmp together, happily ever after.
casings are the only ones that exhibit this syndrome you refer to.
perhaps waterlogged too? he might be misting when in fact, condensation droplets from the trays, lid, etc, might be doing the work for him. such an interesting species. loves to be loved, just not too much. =)

RH = Relative Humidity. RH is a measurement of the amount of water vapors in the air.
