Agreed. I think when I did them I split a cc between the 4 holes.

looks like mushboy answered you immediately tho?

I sterilized my jars on Nov 18th. I left them in the dark for 4 days. I inoculated around the 22nd. I have 3 jars showing mycelium growth, and my grow buddy has all 4 of his jars showing growth, I used several different sized jars, what size jar is recommended? I guess it will be a few weeks now before I get them into the SGFC. Since I used several small jars also, I only injected them in the middle, and so, if there is any growth, I can't see it because it is growing from the center out.

Recommend jar size is right in the tek. Hope you read it. Because it also talks about how incubation in the dark is like 20+ years outdated

Gotcha, I guess that is always the frustration on forums, is that the noobies don't read the TEKs etc and then ask all kinds of questions that could've easily been answered.....
Can you send me a link to that particular TEK that you mentioned? My babies in the dark, so far, are going gangbusters.
As a noobie, I thought it would be great to have my own ongoing thread to discuss the process of noobie to tripster.Or, will this lead me right into the hands of the prying eyes of law enforcement?
I plan on reading all of the teks soon as my next attempt will be rye berries, bulk subsrate, and a monotub.

If I have the option of leaving my windows open near my SGFC, would that be an asset, or a detriment? On one hand, I think the airflow would be better, but on the other hand, I could be bringing in contaminants and get lesss subsequent flushes. Anyone?

I do not think you need to open that window. They way I understand it, the SGFC works because of the air movement created inside the chamber, from the perlite evaporating.

I started a new batch today even though my first batch isn't in the SGFC yet. I read the tek on pressure cooker, last time, I let the jars stay in there for one hour, the tek talked about putting a weight on the little thing at the top or taping it closed and only about ten minutes. Question: Should I pressure cook them for an hour? I start in on high, get it up to where it is steaming, then I back off on the heat so as to keep it hissing....

In addition, I haven't found too much concerning leaving my PF Cakes in the dark as opposed to the light. Mine seem to be filling up my jars nice and white in the dark where I have kept them. They have been in there for two weeks. My other question is; if a forum is a forum, then why is it so tough to get questions answered as opposed to forum members just telling you to read the stickies. If someone wanted to just go onto the the internet and read, then we wouldn't need forums...... This forum, by the way, is no different than any other. That being said; no matter what I am attempting to learn about; I always seem to develop questions that are just outside the norm; like about having fresh (outside) air in the room where my SGFC is.........

Out of six cakes that were birthed on 12/28/2017, this is what I have so far, and I have a question pertaining to the biggest one and maybe all of them; Should I pick these off now?
The biggest one looks as though there is somewhat of a veil gthat is open... please comment.
Thanks

No, don't pick now, that is still far from done. You will just be screwing yourself out of yield.

I'd wait until veil breaks before picking that.
In the past I've had cakes which throw off a couple of monsters early one, then more even pinning happens. Not sure why?

They do continue to grow and add weight after the veil breaks, up to the point of spore production. Even then you can still see noticeable growth.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.
So... that little ripping part isn't really a veil..... and all three of these... just let'em grow??
The other important factor is that I live in the warmest area in the entire U.S. but it has been cold and so these cakes have not been in the optimal temperature range.
Mostly been in the low 60's.
I get real envious looking at pics of cakes with a bunch of shrooms fanning out from the bottoms of the cakes.
Is it better when I do, to pull and twist or use an exacto?

Should this be picked off of my cake yet? I got really fat at the base, and it is very white and fluffy, is that normal?
